Jobs to Labels- Lose the DRM & We'll Talk Price 459

eldavojohn writes "Apple CEO Steve Jobs has been talking smack about DRM and has recently issued a verbal offer to major music lables stating that if they are willing to lose the DRM, he'd be willing to raise his 99 cent price for those iTunes songs. These tracks (such as the recent EMI deal) would also have better sound quality & cost about 30 cents more."

Submission + - EU Launches Antitrust Probe Into iTunes

Macthorpe writes: ABC News is reporting that the EU have started an antitrust probe into the way that Apple sells music on iTunes. Submission + - Amazon Patents Use of Humans to Assist Computers

theodp writes: "Amazon's latest patent, the Hybrid Machine/Human Computing Arrangement, reads like scary Sci-Fi, with claims covering the use of humans 'of college educated, at most high school educated, at most elementary school educated, and not formally educated' to perform subtasks dispatched by a computer. From the patent: 'For examples, the task on hand requires French speaking humans, and Task Server has requested that each subtask be performed by at least 10 humans with a past accuracy record of at least 90%.' Yikes."
