You think it's more likely for law enforcement to make a mistake when they get DNA than when they don't? How exactly does that work?
Agreed. Wouldn't it be smarter to deploy devices from more than one carrier in a large deployment anyway?
I know the carriers make this difficult with "bulk" deals on service, but for cryin' out loud... if you at least choose TWO vendors, and use both equally -- you'd be able to hand the one guy who lives out in the one coverage area that Vendor A doesn't cover, one of Vendor B's USB sticks and say, "Go try this one."
And if they both don't work, you have a lot more leg to stand on to say, "You just live out in the styx, sorry."
And of course, if you find that Vendor A blows Vendor B away, you can slowly migrate over...
Diversity. It's not just for people, anymore. Try it with networks. It's helpful.
The UI should be instant, no matter what's going on.
For a non-trivial app, it has to do multi-threading right. And multi-threading is not something you can easily add to a large code base without major rewrites. I think only FireFox devs know if it is doomed (meaning if it'd ever be fully multi-threaded). But I am afraid the answer is yes.
And the fact that you can't see facetiousness pretty much rules out any weight to your opinions or comments on the subject, I'd say.
I bought the bundle when I already owned (well, rented from Steam) 3 of the 5 games included. I'm sure there are others who made similar decisions.
the only metric that really matters (amount of sunlight over land per capita)
There are a hell of a lot of people in Africa who think there are some problems with your metric.

Double LCDs don't really work all that well, and even if you sandwich them perfectly, there is still parallax.
Argh... problems that can be solved by manufacturing the two layers in a seamless process! I think!
The active LED backlight, on the other hand, actually works quite well; there are artifacts, but they happen to match the limitations of the human visual system pretty well.
If they really do the active LED backlight system on a per-pixel basis, then it's called an OLED display; you don't need the LCD at all anymore.
Which is why OLED is the future! But the future can be pretty far away, and until then I shall have revolutionized the LCD industry with my sandwiching idea, muhuhaa!
They can also be designed anywhere at all.
If we're lucky, this will undermine nationalism and similar bigotries.
tell me where I claimed to be less arrogant or manipulative then anyone?
I meant to say was that they seem to do what AMD did, which was float between like, 2 or 3 CPU socket types then settle on one(for the consumer level at least. If you're buying octo-core Xeons you're probably not building it yourself) for a good half decade.
I am running an M4A78T-E with ATI HD 3300 integrated graphics. It does surprisingly well. I have not doled out any money for new high end games for a while, but it easily handles games that brought my previous graphics card to its knees (it was top of the line in 04). I am eventually going to get a modern graphics card so I can play around with OpenCL, but I really have not felt a pressing need for it with my gaming habits.
