johndiii's Journal: Video for iPod Nano

I'm looking for something that will let me rip DVD movies to watch on my iPod Nano. Google returned a number of alternatives, including Cucusoft, Wondershare, Aimersoft, and Videora. The features all seem to be pretty similar. Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing?

Videora has a free converter, so I will probably give that a try, but the quality of the result is important. That's a small screen, but very good for its size.

I'd suggest looking at QuickRip [sourceforge.net] and Sonic-Rainbow [sourceforge.net] to start with.

You might need this [ufl.edu] first, but then the above (and others, like dvd::rip) are an apt-get away.

Handbrake

I use Handbrake [handbrake.fr] on OSX. It's GPL and multiplatform. It has a nifty bundle of presets for various players, and seems to do the job of converting for iPhone very well.

I don't have an iPod but I use Handbrake for my compression needs.
