Journal janeowit's Journal: Have a Vicious Summer... 9
I just got back from seeing a classic movie in a park with my best friend, and now I have a song we just saw live stuck in my head. Now that's what I call summer.
So sit back, relax or Shake That Ass On the Dance Floor ('cause that is what it's there for).
The same way some music sounds better in the winter acoustically dampened by snow, Vicious Vicious sounds better in the summer. I agree that his self-described "white-boy soul" doesn't fit perfectly into my stereotypical aesthetic, but it fits nonetheless. He's exactly as smooth as he pretends he is.
He combines sweaty dance songs and slower numbers cooled by a breeze blowing in from a plastic wading pool. Whether he's actually singing about it, he infuses all of his songs with living memories of the hottest days of summer. The unrelenting pulsations straight from a drum machine beat down like the fierce sun. The lazy guitars gently bend the way light does in the distance.
I have a fridge full of Popsicles, so let's lie on my front porch and scheme the day away.

[*] Actually, yeah. I am old. This was confirmed yesterday when I walked into a Best Buy and a pimple-faced boy offered to help me find what I was looking for. Help. In a Best Buy!
