I'm sure they all get subjected to the same annual corporate ethics training courses. Some policies apply company wide even in megacorps that employ 300,000 people.

I used to think that. Then I looked at the math. The amount of money possessed by the billionares and a trillionare pale in the face of the size (and needs) of the actual economy. Just having no rich people doesnâ(TM)t mean society suddenly has a bunch of wealth. Like you can generate wealth once, for like a year, and then there is nobody to take money from any more, and everyone is back where they were: same expenses, same income as today. But mysteriously, nobody wants to make businesses actually workâ¦. So the income starts to decay, the prices rise, and with nobody to blame, people start going really weird. And everyone feels that they have a veto power over anything that bothers them, so: bye-bye innovation of every kind. Look at how neighbors police their neighborhoods, and then scale that to every business civilization-wide. Nothing new will ever be created. âoeSafety.â âoeEnvironment.â âoeThreatening jobs.â Everything just⦠stops.

And then technology just froze. No sensor components got cheaper. Computer vision stopped, as a field. Multimodal AI didnâ(TM)t get invented. Robotic hand technology development stopped. Robotic planning and error recovery did not progress. Time just froze, after McDonalds ended its robotic program.

My take was: "Buddy movie in space."

It was fine.

There are COUNTLESS technologies and policies that could reduce the price of housing.

The issue is that we won't apply them. Or if we do apply them, we will do something else, to keep the price of homes up.

That's because:
* 65% of US householders are homeowners.
* 58% of homeowners vote. (contrast: 37% of renters vote.)

About 70-75% of people who cast a ballot are homeowners.

And they do NOT want the price of their house to go down.

This isn't a critique of Trump in particular. This is just how politicians have governed the price of houses for... for it seems like forever.

I started lurking in 4K enthusiast groups to see if they were all cracked up to be. The arguments about relative quality of various BD/4K releases isn't even the most interesting part.

It turns out that there are a lot of issues with set top boxes playing particular disks. The disks themselves also seem terribly fussy.

I talked with Chat-GPT with zero difficulty about the topic, and this is how i opened. That was within a couple hours of first learning about it the other day on the news.

"Oh, okay. You don't want to be known for your body. Very well then. Just act, and we'll put an AI body that we own, over your body, which (for now) does the acting."

Aren't these the only ones that actually matter?

The absorption of anti-merit, anti-achievement, "equality for all," ideology into all of education -- K-12 + colleges, universities, -- already performed the self-lobotomization. That part is done.

I don't know where the LLMs proper place is, in work and education. I *do* know that: everything I know, everything I use daily, about AWS, Flutter, and Dart, -- I have learned from LLMs. Whereas the colleges and universities don't do anything for me today. (I'm 48.) So I'm not particularly sympathetic to the idea that -- the LLMs are no good at educating. From my vantage point, LLMs are EXTRAORDINARY teachers. But I don't know what unmotivated children do with them.
