EU Court Backs 'Right To Be Forgotten' 153

NapalmV sends this news from the BBC: "The European Union Court of Justice said links to 'irrelevant' and outdated data should be erased on request. The case was brought by a Spanish man who complained that an auction notice of his repossessed home on Google's search results infringed his privacy. Google said the ruling was 'disappointing.'" The EU Justice Commissioner said, "Companies can no longer hide behind their servers being based in California or anywhere else in the world. ... The data belongs to the individual, not to the company. And unless there is a good reason to retain this data, an individual should be empowered — by law — to request erasure of this data." According to the ruling (PDF), if a search provider declines to remove the data, the user can escalate the situation to a judicial authority to make sure the user's rights are being respected.

15%?! Now I know you're joking because even the risky dealers (porn sites) only pay 7.5% max.

You clearly don't work in the porn industry. A lot of pornsites would be very happy if they only had to pay 7.5%, if they could even get a merchant account and not have to go to a third party processor and pay 25%. Not to mention the ridiculous fees VISA charges you just to get a merchant account if you're a porn company.

Psychics Say Apollo 16 Astronauts Found Alien Ship 285

astroengine writes "A group called Transception Incorporated, self-described as an Austin, Texas-based psychic R&D operation, sent a letter (PDF) to NASA Administrator Charles Bolden that nominates the Apollo 16 crew for the Congressional Space Medal of Honor. Why? Well, a variety of 'shipwreck elements' on the Moon — described as 'structures, people/aliens, biological technology, and their plight' — were reportedly 'seen' through remote viewing (PDF) by six experts at Transception. These 'elements' can be seen, along with Apollo 16 moonwalkers John Young and Charles Duke, in photographs during that famous mission, obviously making this the first ever alien encounter."

Key EDS Witness Bought Internet Degree 258

An anonymous reader writes "EDS's key witness during the firm's court case against BSkyB was shown to have bought his degree online – but still managed to get a worse mark than a dog. Joe Galloway said he had a degree from Concordia College in the US Virgin Islands and gave detailed evidence on how he took plane journeys between the islands and attended a college there. But while questioning Galloway in court, Mark Howard QC managed to obtain exactly the same degree as Galloway from Concordia College for his dog 'Lulu' with one key difference – the dog got a higher mark."

Indeed, eBay are crap. I've had many problems with getting eBay to remove counterfeit DVD's. The seller even mentioned they were copies on DVD-r and they still did nothing until legally threatened and the seller wasn't even deactivated. The guy was selling hundreds of DVD-r's, he did not have one legitimate item in his entire selling history.
