what I saw the guy didn't specify if root was needed, but my guess it was not, and for storing a PIN number, it should have been validated on the server side not locally, or even if validated locally if an account already created it should check if the PIN has been set-up before instead of just asking for a new one, imagine if your bank or credit card worked like that, major flaw

I don't know if it was on purpose or not, but the app is very badly done, has been hacked with very simple techniques, for instance, one can reset the PIN just by opening one of the configuration xml files and deleting the PIN section, next time the app opens it asks for a new PIN, which was only stored in the device (also encrypted and not hashed), similar attacks remove facial and digital locks, and I'm sure many more bug will appear.

I have been to all of the QC Snapdragon briefs, know the engineers personally, and have written about the shitshow on SemiAccurate.com extensively, basically I know what is going on. QC doesn't understand what they are doing and why, and there is ZERO internal impetus to change from the people on top. They do nearly nothing on software enablement because, "That is Microsoft's job". Drivers are intentionally locked down and encrypted to block Linux, and x86 compatibility is BETTER in hardware than the Mac Mx line (Same people who did the M1 and M2 did the X1 and X2, and they all just bailed on QC) but the software is.... oh look outside, there is a sky.

TLDR: No chance in hell there will be a fix.

The worst of it all is that this is a run just to guarantee supply in case the manufacturers cannot meet demand, the "quote 10, to order 5 to receive 2" that we saw during the pandemic, and because the manufacturers know this is the case, they are making zero effort to expand the production capacity because they know that when the new factory capacity becomes available all this craziness will likely have passed and they will have no costumers to pay for the products no matter what the contracts say, because bankrupt costumers cannot pay you.

I'm really hopping that this bubble pops soon, the longer it takes the crazier this will get and the bigger the fall will be (and consequences).

And the justification that 1PB of data was too big to back-up is completely absurd, these days this amount of data is not even that much, there are people if more than that in their servers at home, let alone a datacenter, for crying out loud, there are systems with more RAM than this in a single pod.

From the article the worst thing is lunch time meetings, I can do 8pm meetings occasionally, and even done 10pm weekly when working with asian clients, but the amount of lunch time meetings in that graph is just obscene and a very american thing, I don't think anywhere else in the world people do that, we need down time during lunch to eat properly and have some rest or even, gasp, socialize a little.
To me lunch time meetings are just unacceptable, even when working from home.

Living in the Philippines would also have the advantage of being much cheaper, at least today, who knows in 25 years, but would likely still be cheaper to live there and occasionally visit Japan than living in Japan.

First I didn't say anything about poor, the point is young couples or couples with young kids, poor or not that is what they need right now, and moving and settling in would expensive no matter who you are, so money incentive would help.
Second, being poor doesn't mean they would stay poor, it is very common for immigrants to a new country to arrive with little money and build a good life by working a lot.
