Submission + - Windows XP Updates haven't passed Windows Logo (flickr.com)

ericrost writes: When updating a Desktop install of Windows XP that I use at work, the following amusing error came up in the initial download of patches from Windows Update (while updating Windows Update itself).

Is it just me, or is Microsoft completely broken in how they condition their users to blindly click boxes that pop up. Is anyone surprised that the botnets run on Windows boxes?

Sheesh,

Submission + - HP Violated GPL?

ericrost writes: When the SCO case was at its peak, HP was offering indemnity to its customers. If you read through the conditions:

"not use or modify the source code".

As a company distributing Linux, isn't that in direct violation of the terms of the GPL?

Submission + - Tammy Faye's Cancer Treatment Ends

ericrost writes: Tammy Faye Mesner's (formerly Bakker) doctor's ended her cancer treatments. I ran across her during her season of The Surreal Life on VH1, and she really surprised me with how genuinely nice she was. Just thought it was a sad story to pass along.

Submission + - Response to the Orson Scott Card "Climate"

ericrost writes: realclimate.org has had responses to this FUD up for awhile. There have been several links and journals submitted to http://www.ornery.org/essays/warwatch/2007-03-04-1 .html over the last few days. Digging through the comments on that site led me to http://www.realclimate.org/index.php?p=11#myth2 basically showing that the claim that every point brought up in that essay is long analyzed and defunct FUD. Unfortunately, its also the crap that's going on in the congressional hearings.
