eCVTs are for cars. No belts, just 3 motors and a planetary gear. More reliable than any other option than going pure EV and ditching the transmission entirely.

Limited screen real estate is never not going to be an issue. I mean, I suppose if I wanted to swivel my head around all the time on a giant multi-monitor setup it might be possible to have enough screen real estate most of the time without overlapping windows, but meh, most of the time I'm on a laptop anyway. And focus follows mouse is just infuriating.

I absolutely hate focus follows mouse. I remember encountering it back in the '80s and the first thing I did was figure out how to turn it off.

I can't imagine a use case for it that would ever work for me.

If I'm going to watch a movie, I want it in an environment where I control the lighting, the food, the temperature, and the sound level, and I can hit pause if I want to grab a fresh drink. So I'm probably never going to a movie theater again. The "phone fuckers" (whatever that means) and people who have no interest in you wanting them to shut up are their paying customers now.

Centralization still seems like a really, really bad idea to me. It makes it MUCH harder for the internet to just route around damage.

There are still good reasons for those dealership laws, they're designed to keep some money in the local communities and ensure that major purchases which require dealer support like vehicles will not be entirely at the whim of a company that has no significant ties to the state.

Nah, there will be a few dozen jobs watching the robots at any automated factory. They won't be skilled jobs, and they won't pay much. And there will be somebody sweeping up.

But people really DO want to work in factories. I know people who used to make t-shirt fabric, people who used to make bluejeans. They enjoyed their jobs, believe it or not. Those factories are closed now, shut down maybe a couple decades ago. The union (actually used to be ILGWU before it was UNITE HERE!) even closed up shop here about a decade ago, the union hall is a pain clinic now.

But yeah, the people who used to make your Levi's didn't hate their jobs. They're not big fans of the service jobs they're working now for less money, though.

Just give us 10 year certs back. There's no reason for this nonsense.
