Comment Luxury goods (Score 5, Insightful) 63

We will see more and more of these luxury goods coming out that only 10-20% of the people can afford, and they still won't own it. A smartphone is an expensive device they sell you for good money, and they continue making good money on it, because you have no choice but run the OS and the apps they want you to run. I still can't understand how most people don't see or care about that. Happy and own nothing, indeed.

This is how they "solved" open sourced LLMs for the majority of population who can't pay 3200€ (Jan.2026) for 128GB of high MT/s RAM.

Eating lettuce every day is just going to make you a starving zombie who craves food all the time. It's not the way to live your life. The best way to lose weight is to change your lifestyle. I've been into nutrition and cooking my whole life as a little interesting side-thing. If you want to eat healthy and look healthy, not crave food like a maniac, you simply have to eat proper vegetables, legumes, fruits, nuts and seeds, grains, mushrooms, fish and chicken if you eat meat. Your body shouldn't starve vitamins and minerals, only for a bit of calories, so avoid sugar, salt, oil, starch, as much as you can. What also matters is how you eat all of that. Make your own list of dishes you like to eat and make them healthy. Eat 3 times a day with the main meal (dinner) being the biggest one. Have fruits in between meals if you feel hungry. Drink self made lemonade with lots of water and tea, some coffee.

I can give you an example of my regular breakfast, to give you an idea of what I'm talking about here. I mash a banana, add 3 spoons of oatmeal, add half a cup of soymilk, half a teaspoon of cocoa, and 2-3 tablespoons of ground nuts and seeds I make (flax, sunflower, sesame. sometimes almond or walnuts). If I need more sweetness, I'd add a teaspoon of good quality honey, but banana is sweet enough for me. A mashed banana can become a really tasty jam in a minute! ;)

My main meals are usually chilli beans or vegetable curries style food, with some grains like millet, barley, buckwheat, corn-grits, and a rich salad made with tomatoes, peppers, onion, spinach, beetroot, sauerkraut, turnip, even lettuce. These two types of food (stew and "risotto" types) are easier to make and can be stored in the fridge for a couple of days. I am a lazy cook, but I like to eat healthy food! ;)

"The company also argues that over-ear headphones offer more privacy since audio responses aren't audible to bystanders." LOL this is the least of my worries when it comes to privacy. They want you to know they care about your privacy... from bystanders. LOL

What doesn't get enough attention are sea currents. Aside from the atmosphere, they are the key to the climate, and not something we can really control. Changing sea currents in the Atlantic can cause much colder weather in the lower part of the Northern hemisphere, and also cause more extreme weather patterns. Everything is connected, everything influences everything, and the Earth is a closed ecosphere which we're all a part of. Since we have passed the point where things could be reversed, things will just get worse, faster and faster. It's also become obvious not many people care what happens, or rather - they do, but they still don't think it will. Pretty insane...

We absolutely have to pay attention to such nefarious attempts of censorship of art and history, and restricting freedom of expression in the name of... what exactly? Just to point something out. I don't think they are not smart for writing such misleading reports, they just need to put food on the table. What I mean is - the politics forces them to lie for money. It happens far more often than you think, especially in time of economical struggles and crisis. They could grow a pair, though, lose the (additional?) income (bribe?) and be truthful to themselves for once. Doing that certainly has its own merits.
