Journal damn_registrars's Journal: I can't *wait* to hear more from this conspiracy! 91

In messages I saw a link that my dear friend Smitty had posted a JE: "After Using FBI To Suppress Son's Crimes & Raid Political Rival's Home, Biden" . Except I click on the link and I get a 404 error on slashdot.

Certainly Smitty intended to tell us about the greatest conspiracy since the Illuminati told us that Ceasar actually stabbed himself to death on the floor of the Roman Senate. I have no doubt he was going to blow this wide open with solidly backed facts from reputable primary sources.

So then what must be the real cause of this? Certainly slashdot wouldn't ever make a mistake. I checked smitty's JE listings and no similar entry exists. Clearly the only thing that could have caused this is ...

    • Biden's concern is for the Party, not "democracy". And as a reminder, the business between the two "teams" is symbiosis, not adversarial. Maybe you are catching on to a small extent, but d_r here is crazy-glued to the set, his (and yours) timid "criticisms" mean nothing without the vote to back it up. Look for the same 90% reelection rate. A finely balanced deadlocked congress is a safe congress, right?

      • And as a reminder, the business between the two "teams" is symbiosis

You're conveniently ignoring a great deal of lopsidedness (tyranny) in the application of the rules.

        • Mass media hype.. There isn't any "lopsidedness", they protect each other, business is business

          • Your course leads to a Niemoeller moment [wikipedia.org].
            • You really feel so persecuted? Cry me river

              • No, I'm saying on the current course, the tyranny will continue to find new foes once the current crop are consumed.
                • So what has changed over the last 10,000 years? Aside from the clothing fashions?

                  • I can tell you what has changed over the course of my life, and not for the better. But you seem committed to the Pollyanna thing.
                    • Please, do tell! I'm all ears (eyes in this case)...

                    • We're more in debt; our government is increasingly owned by oligarchs, corporations, and parties instead of voters; efforts at action that could reform anything are chided as too dangerous.
                    • We're more in debt

Phony as a three dollar bill, a pretext for austerity in needed public services and scarcity in general

our government is increasingly owned by oligarchs, corporations, and parties...

No, really it's about the same, just a bit more obvious maybe... Has it effected you directly? Or is this just a media thing?

efforts at action that could reform anything are chided as too dangerous.

Yeah! I noticed! Taking shots off the bow all day... What's up with that?

                    • We're more in debt

Phony as a three dollar bill, a pretext for austerity in needed public services and scarcity in general

I see you make the point that the debt is so much mirage. True, the Congress behaves this way. But are you arguing some variation on the theme of Modern Monetary Theory, or what else are you basing upon? You're not some closet Ron Paul fanatic, are you?

                    • "debt" is inevitable. That why it is simply forgiven every once and while, and we are way past the point where it is necessary now. The government doesn't put us into debt, the banks do, via usury and other accounting tricks. All your payments are to service their interest, the principal is a tiny part of the picture. So yes the "debt" is a mirage, phony as can be. You show incredible antipathy towards a just society and people who need help with this nonsense about "debt"

                    • Gravity is "inevitable". Debt is not. This is ten years old => https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SV-xPS5-GxE&t=4s [youtube.com]

                      That clip both:

Underscores your point that it's a giant farce, and

Underscores the need to do...something. Maybe just let it 'splode?

The ultimate truth that someone is getting a haircut here is obvious.

Who, when, and the length remain to be seen.
                    • Bunch of phony nonsense... Antipathy carries the day

                    • Well, *that* was a thorough rebuttal...
                    • It's garbage.. What is there to rebut?

                    • It's a genuinely interesting visualization. You offer the cornfield [youtube.com] argument without even alluding to your basis. Is it Modern Monetary Theory?
                    • Forgiving "debt" goes way back to ancient times. Now is a good time, especially since this "debt" is so phony, mostly interest

                    • OK, so put a "phony" label on any debt we dislike, and it goes away? Poof? Like that?
                    • That's how they did it.. *poof*.. just like that.. gone.. nothing to worry about, the banks can afford it

                    • Stipulating that you're correct, then why don't the Commies just cancel cash and usher in the Worker's Paradise?

Apparently the situation may not conform to our over-simplifications.
                    • No need to be silly, just zero the books... done

                      And what "commies"?

                    • just zero the books

And I'm the screwball for advocating a CoS? The ripple effects would be massive and require some thought ahead of endorsing. Interesting thought experiment, though.

                    • Only the Wall Street gazillionaires will suffer a small, very temporary hit, easily affordable for them.

You sure are liberal with Other Peoples' Money. Understand that you're blowing away pretty much every pension fund and 401k with a pen stroke here.

                    • Pensions and 401Ks are not financed by debt

                    • No, but the economic implosion incurred by your ideas is very likely to make collateral damage of them.
                    • Only if we let it. Pensions are earned benefits, a system based on debt is fraudulent, or more like gambling

        • Oy! another second!:

Congress is still 50 - 50. The Party still gets 98% of the vote. What "lopsidedness" are you talking about?

          • Which consonant is held to rules/laws, and which consonant experiences the gaze aversion you demonstrate?
            • Which consonant is held to rules/laws

Neither. I thought you would have noticed by now. Insider trading, for example, is not limited to one or the other. OSHA rules? please... They all can do what they want. Please don't play the victim card with me. Your media may be partisan, but the law is not.

              • And the FBI has been weaponized against which consonant for the last half-decade...? (great deflection, BTW)
                • Oh please! You think they haven't been for decades already? Your "consonants" are totally irrelevant. You got a real persecution complex going on there. You sound like the whiny democrats

                  • Keep rationalizing.
                    • Whatever... you can't tell us why you were perfectly ok with it up to now? You seem more upset about the target than their actions

                    • I'm upset by the banana republic pattern of throwing opponents in the cooler and not actually getting them in court. On the current course, we may be able to discuss in the re-education camp.
                    • I'm upset by the banana republic pattern of throwing opponents in the cooler and not actually getting them in court.

Standard practice for po' people, what's good for the goose, eh? Besides, isn't he out on bail? Wait.. We're talking about Bannon, right? Don't you want the law to be enforced equally for all? Now is a good time to start, isn't it?

Let this be a reminder that people should be more careful when they vote. The wrong lizard might get in...

All our wounds are self inflicted

                    • Standard practice for po' people, what's good for the goose, eh? Besides, isn't he out on bail? Wait.. We're talking about Bannon, right? Don't you want the law to be enforced equally for all? Now is a good time to start, isn't it?

What "po' people" have been targeted as political opponents? I've heard tales of LBJ rooking a neighbor out of land in Texas, sure. But the weaponization is of federal bureaucracies against opposing parties is completely novel. Ol' loose cannon Trump certainly did nothing of the sort, despite his Eternal Uber-Hitler status.

                    • We have no opposing parties in American politics. There is only one. There is no such thing as political "opponents". This is just you crying about your boy. You are carrying his persecution complex

                    • You should be used to seconds by now:

Ol' loose cannon Trump certainly did nothing of the sort

The hell he didn't... buttery males!

                    • I have said this over and over. But the question is which end of the turd you think more likely to deliver any change.

"Neither end" might be your answer. Fine.

Question: if an "external" actor is needful, do you think Trump qualifies?

Because, if DJT doesn't qualify, it's due to being some flavor of insider. And maybe he is. Again: the whole thing is so much farce.
                    • Oh, "But her emails". Dude: do you doubt that the Clinton Foundation, and her SecState tenure, were influence peddling scams furthered by her completely unauthorized email server? There is plenty of room to put forth an argument that Trump absconded with "classified" docs. There is also no comparison with Her Majesty's perfidy.
                    • Again: the whole thing is so much farce.

Yet you still have favorites... that's strange...

                    • There is also no comparison with Her Majesty's perfidy.

:-) Yet, here you are, doing exactly that... comparing.. There's nothing to compare, they are the same, distinguished only by style

                    • I can't decide which of the two of you is more useless.

                    • Indeed their discussion is just a contest to see who hates the democrats more. The only difference is one believes they can "solve" the issue by giving unlimited power to their preferred team, while the other keeps telling us they want to burn the whole thing to the ground.
                    • Most Americans don’t want Trump or Biden to run in 2024: [another useless media] poll" [thehill.com]"

But for sure that's who you guys will nominate anyway, if they're still alive...

Keep the game going, boys... I can watch on the jumbotron

                    • The only difference is one believes they can "solve" the issue by giving unlimited power to their preferred team, while the other keeps telling us they want to burn the whole thing to the ground.

:-) The only thing I like to burn are your strawmen

                    • Something more tangible than you hand-waving seems in order, yes.
                    • I'm OK with DeSantis, though one must understand he's pwned by the elite, too.
                    • "My" hand waving... Now that's some serious projection! And your tangents are way off...

                    • As are all members of the politburo, you don't get in, much less famous, any other way

                    • Yours are way off-er-er!
                    • If the problem is simply intractable, do we go with the most amusing?
                    • :-) You'll never know until you try. Alas, you choose the status quo, for the advantages it provides

                    • If the problem is simply intractable..

Only because we make it so

do we go with the most amusing?

Given the above, what else is there? I'm not going to weep over it

                    • I'm OK with DeSantis, though one must understand he's pwned by the elite, too.

The same can be said for every other person elected from your team for at least the last 80 years, with exactly zero exceptions.

                    • Help me understand how supporting a Convention of States, which could actually affect the status quo in a positive way, is choosing the status quo.
                    • If the problem is simply intractable..

Only because we make it so

So, is the problem an immovable object, or are we an irresistible self-cancelling force?

                    • You, fusty, and I seem to be in various flavors of agreement here.

My litmus test for any suggestion is whether the idea on offer empowers the federal-, state-, local government, or individuals. NOTE: "Individuals" includes the unborn human whose life is threatened by the uncontrolled, pagan lust for human flesh displayed by the servants of Moloch in our day.

This is why Lindsey Graham needs to be opposed: https://www.cnn.com/2022/09/13/politics/lindsey-graham-abortion-15-week-ban/index.html [cnn.com]. The womb, as
                    • Your "Convention of States"... convened by your reelected bosses of the status quo, like letting gangsters write the law... Wouldn't be prudent...

                    • The problem is personal, it always is... remember that thing called personal responsibility? Well, there it is. intractable... immovable... irresistible, we are it. Give it any name you like

                    • But if it's the Same As It Ever Was, then why would you bother to object?
                    • Fully agree. The eternal must become internal for joy to bloom.
                    • Because with the present system, we still have a chance to defeat them. Just requires our vote. Your "Convention of States" will create a monarchy of incumbents, unable to vote out, one reason being it will be much easier to control who can vote, something you seem to be solidly in support of...

                    • The eternal is all inclusive. Are you?

                    • "Eternal" is a temporal, not spatial measure.
                    • Your "Convention of States" will create a monarchy of incumbents, unable to vote out

LOL, wut? The actual convention isn't more than abstract; the amendments, are nowhere near final; and even after adopted, require 2/3 of the states to ratify.

Now, if you're a Prophet, that changes the entire conversation.

                    • Same difference. Time and space are not so distinct. So "eternal" is everything

                    • require 2/3 of the states to ratify.

That ratification comes from the corrupt incumbent politicians we're supposed to vote out. Naturally they will ratify anything that will cement their incumbency into the constitution. Your CoS is extremely dangerous, do not want. The obligation and responsibility to vote them out is ours alone. Instead, let's use Article 1 Section 4 to put in the open system I recommend. Congress already has that authority, but with a 90% reelection rate, they don't want an open system any more than you do

                    • You're so addicted to the status quo that you'll hold the Hellward course in the existing handbasket rather than accept the potential of actually improving matters.
                    • You can't even offer a theory whereby you're sentient, never mind explain how space=time.
                    • You can't even offer a theory whereby you're sentient

And you haven't offered one either. We are sentient simply because we say we are... And, like it or not, that "sentience" serves the beast. The beast created it for that purpose

                    • You're so addicted to the status quo

Sorry, you're projecting again.. gone full circle... claim victory as you see fit, it's yours

                    • You're correct; that wasn't a proper diagnosis.
                    • I've offered an existential model that accepts a set of body/mind/soul axes as given.

Having rejected such, the burden of offering an alternative seems to be yours.
                    • I've offered an existential model that accepts a set of body/mind/soul axes as given.

Meaning nothing... merely an agreement amongst arrogant men to create a means of crowd control

the burden of offering an alternative seems to be yours.

Already done that, but you have rejected such, making this is a fruitless discussion. I mean, it's like you don't even conceive how the heavier elements emerge from the natural fusion process.

                    • Meaning nothing... merely an agreement amongst arrogant men to create a means of crowd control

Quite the opposite. Meaning everything, and insisting upon treating individuals as such, and encouraging to mature into full humanity, such that they can control themselves. I do not know how you can continue to misconstrue my position so thoroughly, but look at you go.

Already done that, but you have rejected such, making this is a fruitless discussion.

I only recall you ignoring the question, and the idea of the question.

    • How about the JE that we were promised on it? What happened to it? If you'd care to post some of the text from it we can discuss it. I'm getting enough conservative banner ads already, I'm not interested in clicking into any conservative echo chambers not named slashdot (and yes I know about adblock).
      • The Babylon Bee deserves the click. Or are you injured by all of the Christianiteismology in the pixels?
        • If you can't be bothered to even just quote some of what they have to say, then I see no reason to see it as important. I will not click through links to more partisan blogs. Tell us what they have to say, and what evidence - if any - they use to support it. I've never asked you to read a non-conservative blog or watch a non-conservative youtube video. Why you can't extend the same courtesy in the other direction is a mystery.
          • You obviously thought it important enough to reply and flog this dead horse.

Apologies in advance if I've misjudged the situation, but this seems a sociopath-esque effort to trick another person into doing your bidding.
            • You obviously thought it important enough to reply and flog this dead horse.

I have told you multiple times before that I will not read your conservative blogs, and I will not watch your conservative videos. If you want to discuss what is in them, please quote them. I have extended you that courtesy, yet you refuse to reciprocate.

Apologies in advance if I've misjudged the situation, but this seems a sociopath-esque effort to trick another person into doing your bidding.

Apology accepted, as you have indeed misjudged the situation. I am asking you to actually put your thoughts in your comments here, rather than just saying "go read / watch what this other person has to say". When you direct away in the fashion you are
