Just saw this on bsky and I'll just leave it here:

"The takeaway from the Tucker Carlson Ted Cruz interview is that the American public has been so badly cheated for so long by the people pretending to be the political media that when anyone asks a basic follow up that an 8th grade schoolpaper reporter would it feels like cutting edge journalism"

Couldn't disagree more. The lesser informed and poorly educated are better off with mainstream media. Them going to online sources is how we get antivaxers and Qanon.

Going to the mainstream media is how we get a populace which is accepting of treason and fascism, because they underplay both.

Also remember that this connection between wealth and morality (which is basically negatively correlated from the available evidence: To get wealthy you very likely have to be an asshole) has a religious and thereby inherently flawed source.

And inherently contradictory, since the prosperity theologists also claim to be Christians, where one of the primary messages is... well communism basically.

Most people with their casual interest in current events and high school educations arent equipped to handle figuring out what's real or not via their social media feeds.

Instead, they believe that things are real because they saw them on a three-letter shit factory on the teevee, because they aren't equipped to know that it's a lot of bullshit. The difference is, they might find some facts on social media.
