"So? Why is that a reason not to care? Games are one of the big reasons Microsoft is so dominant in the PC market. And that dominance is what allows them to do all those shenanigans in Win11 with impunity. So any news that could help break that dominance is news one should care about."

Linux enabling people to run Windows games on Linux only strengthens Windows.

* It discourages native Linux builds of games
* It's not legal to be playing those games on something other than Windows, they were built, licensed, and supported for Windows.
* It brings a ton of not ready users to Linux who then flood forums and reddit for problems that are NOT Linux issues, but are instead Proton and WINE related issues.
* It brings users who don't give a damn about Linux and the community, all they care about is can they play their specific games.

Proton and WINE have become a curse.

Jeremy Allison - Sam writes: The PSF has withdrawn a $1.5 million proposal to US government grant program.

"We became concerned, however, when we were presented with the terms and conditions we would be required to agree to if we accepted the grant. These terms included affirming the statement that we “do not, and will not during the term of this financial assistance award, operate any programs that advance or promote DEI, or discriminatory equity ideology in violation of Federal anti-discrimination laws.”
