Federal funding was ended for new embryonic cell lines. Research involving existing lines was not banned or restricted at all.

You were correct about the separation of research, of course, but recall that private funding spiked. Less funds total than if the federal government funded it? Probably. Effective ban? No.

That's certainly not a complete ban, without a stretch of imagination applied.

Yeah there are places where you can get connections for that low of a price, but its not really "Hi-Speed" 768k which even though is not wicked fast, it is still a big improvement over 56k. But anyways, there are much more options available now, DSL is available in many more places because of the advancement in equipment that allows access to people who are further away from the main Telecommunication office. But also the availability of Satellite access now allows almost anyone to get a high-speed connection.

Not my proudest moment, but not too long ago games retailers were REALLY dumb about this. They'd put all kinds of games on the shelves that were used either just loose in the original box, or if the box wasn't around, then they'd just shrink wrap the disc and the manual. I'd just go walking around with a notepad and a pen and I'd scribble down dozens of cd-keys.

Today, Windows 7 (NOT AN UPGRADE) [amazon.com] goes for $178.54 on Amazon and lists for $199. According to the Minneapolis Fed [minneapolisfed.org], $99 in 1985 is worth $200.21 in 2010 - in other Words, inflation adjusted, Microsoft hasn't raised the price of Windows. And if you include all of the programs that are included with Windows 7 that you would normally have had to have purchased separately back in '85 (compression, file management, image viewers, etc, etc...) Windows has gone down dramatically. Now, they've been labeled a monopoly in court, but they're pricing isn't that of a monopolist. Actually, they've given the consumer a really nice value.

What happened to hardware prices during that same time?
