This is a naive view. Once micropayments or subscriptions kick in people will just go somewhere else.

In our site we offer a subscription service where users can customize their experience around the site... The number of subscribers count around the couple of hundreds out of a user base of hundred thousand.

If you make the offer "in your face" people complain. If you send out an email reminding there's such an option they call it spam. Even at $5 a month people complain.

These users who many times comment how they have benefited from the connections made through the site ignore the costs of running the site - colocation, traffic, software, development, tax, insurance, salaries, etc, etc...

The right to bear arms is not for the purposes of hunting or other recreational activities. It is a check against tyranny. History has shown power to be a corrupting force, so preventing the concentration of power should be the goal of any civilization interested in longevity.

Ending the private ownership of weapons should be considered carefully. Freedom is easy to lose and hard to gain. The loss of this particular freedom would make it considerably easier to lose the rest of them. What safety is worth that cost?

Mars probes typically return this kind of water on Mars data every few years or so. The problem is, it's nowhere close to the water level found on Earth and therefore it's ability to support any form of life is quite low. I'm not sure how newsworthy this is. It doesn't make much sense to me.
