May peace be with all Europeans today. I know it is difficult but we will always be here to help out. You were with us on 9/11 and afterwards, we are with you now as well.

Which is really too bad. They actually did a better - and more accurate - job with that "issue's" coverage than did a lot of real news.

  • They're obviously pissed because the world has found more important things to worry about... :|

  • My heart goes out to the victims, and the families and friends of the victims.

To the terrorists: All you have done is lessened the time between now and your final judgement. It'll be up to God to forgive you, it'll be up to the UK and US Militaries to arrange the meeting.

And HBI is right. One or two well placed nukes will silence them for generations.

(Actually, one specific nuclear detonation could end all this nonsense permanently.)

    • Let me just start by saying that I'm a Londoner. I was born in London, raised in London, went to university in London and lived in London all my life. The Tube lines that were attacked are Tube lines that I've used to commute to work and college. The bus bomb exploded not more than a mile from my alma mater, in an area that is very familiar to me. The streets you see on your TV screens are streets that I have walked hundreds if not thousands of times.

Naturally, as a Londoner I have literally hundreds of pe
      • although 700 hundred miles from NYC, i remember how it felt to be attacked in such a way. it can only be more intense for you and other londoners.

around here, all of our thoughts are with you all and i hope whatever path the world takes, it will result in an ending of these horrific and cowardly attacks.

personally, i'd like to see all responsible up against the wall.

        take care.

First of all, I offer you my most sincere condolences on what you, and your countrymen are dealing with today. However, I disagree with a number of your points.

Talk about vengeance all you want. Just don't kid yourself into believing that you can end this sort of atrocity or combat terrorism using military might: all you'll do is create more martyrs for the cause and more hate-filled young minds ready to do whatever it takes to get their own form of revenge and retribution. If the British government had t

        • 1. People talked about ridding the world of the scurge of Nazism, not of wiping Germany and Germans of the face of the Earth. Yet that's the kind of anti-Muslim sentiment that I see from some people, on Slashdot and elsewhere.

          2. I'm not suggesting we get Al Qaeda around a campfire and all toast marshmallows but only fighting them head on with military force will not work. It didn't work in Vietnam, it didn't work in Northern Ireland, and it's hasn't worked it lots of other places either. Cut the head of th
        • First of all, they're assuming this is Al Qaeda. I don't see why the IRA is being ruled out so quickly. This is right in line with how they do things.

Second, you can't compare Al Qaeda (or the IRA) to Nazi Germany (btw, Kudos for invoking Godwin's Law so soon in the discussion). Nazi Germany was a sovreign state with goals of ruling the world. Both Al Qaeda and the IRA (and the Basques in spain) are independant groups. THey have goals, but have no real home base. Short of killing everyone in a 500 mi
          • Is that from the Question on JLU?
          • The only true solution (in my mind) is to eliminate the cause. IF they have no cause to kill or die for, then there will be no more killing. Reactionary actions will only excite and encourage them.

I agree - we should invade their countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity. Without a religion whose second commandment is to kill infidels, we won't have Islamofascist terrorists.

And you can compare Al Qaeda to Nazi Germany - because they are / were BOTH a threat that must be confronted

            • Hitler was rather keen on your first idea, except he called it "the Final Solution", and his targets were the Jews. It didn't work out too well for him in the end, and history definitely doesn't look at his attempt at genocide with any kind of fondness.

You live in a country that was built by people who sought a new life away from religious persecution, who deliberately sought to seperate church from state once they had won their independence, and who have a history of espousing the value of freedom, not le
        • Our enemies must be defeated, as they are opposed to our very existence and way of life. They cannot be negotiated with, they cannot be ignored, they must be met and destroyed

Sigh. Put yourself in their position. As they see it, you are opposed to their very existence and way of life. You can't be negotiated with, and can't be ignored. By your own logic, they have every right to try and destroy you.
