Submission + - Star Wars' R2D2 creator found dead in Malta (trust.org)

MiniMike writes: Sad news from the Star Wars world as the creator of R2D2 has been found dead in a house in Malta. As there was no sign of Bantha tracks, and no widely dispersed blaster marks were found, there was no immediate suspicion of foul play

Submission + - Tae Bo workout sent skyscraper shaking (cnn.com)

MiniMike writes: According to CNN:

Seventeen people performing a vigorous Tae Bo workout caused tremors that forced the evacuation of a South Korean skyscraper earlier this month, the building's owners say. Scientists recreated the event in the 12th floor gym, according to a report in the Korea Times.

I don't know which is scarier, that they made such a flimsy skyscraper, or the sight of 17 scientists doing a Tae Bo workout. Hopefully they're better at it than the scientists I've seen in the gym (note that IAAS).

Submission + - Mugging Victim Tracks Suspects Via IPhone's GPS (thepittsburghchannel.com)

MiniMike writes: According to The Pittsburgh Channel:

A CMU student who was mugged on a street in Shadyside helped Pittsburgh police catch the suspects using his iPhone....

He got on his computer and tracked his iPhone using its global positioning satellite chip. The feature allows users to pinpoint the location of their phone if it's ever lost or stolen.

Police officers tracked the three suspects to an Eat N' Park in North Versailles, where police arrested the men.

No word if the student was given the option to have his iPhone explode while the muggers were using it.
