It seems to be a pattern. The USA tries to keep China down by raising fences/denying it technology/etc/etc, and China adjusts its priorities accordingly, and overcomes the problems and continues to advance.

I'd successfully de-Googled myself some time ago, but have grown to rely on Microsoft Copilot for helping me with life issues. That still requires a VPN, and Copilot uses the evil Cloudflare to check I'm human which is exceedingly over-zealous for VPN users. So, I need to move off yet another US company's service because I want (geographic) freedom. I've attempted to switch to Kimi, but it's slower and the paid service is wait listed. It's also a real pita to move existing chats/issues from one AI to another (bridge documents)...in kimi, it abruptly stops chats when they get too long (an auto-generated bridge document would be useful there).

I wish there was a Personal Assistant app that would manage all this "abruptly ending chat" and "losing memory" pain, by storing a continuous bridge document locally, along with all the files you've uploaded for analysis. There seem to be some similar apps, but nothing exactly like I am having to do manually.

That's not what is happening here. One party no longer exists, and rget are suing that company's hosting service who, rightly (imo), is not providing access to the data without a court order. Once they get the court order, they're (presumably) off the hook.

Some, maybe, but I think the point is that it doesn't bias students one way or another....of course, they all run web browsers, so, yeah...doesn't matter really.

Is that a good thing? It's one of the advantages of a Chromebook, iinm...well, it was before they added android support.
