Do what you want way up there. The swing between summer and winter amount of sunlight is drastic. However, down here? The change makes it much worse. It takes months just to get back to baseline after the clocks change. I just donâ(TM)t care, either pick one or just move the clocks 30 minutes one last time and keep it there. why has no one thought of this? Did the Canadiens study that? Move the clocks by 30 minutes and keep them there.
Nowhere did I blame renewables. I was replying to someone talking about the huge price spikes pointing out that they applied to people lucky enough to have power.
We were out 5 and a half days for the derecho. We were in a hotel out in Sealey.
We had a generator for Beryl, but hadn't had it wired into the house yet. We had a lot of extension cords.
Later, I got the inlet and subpanel wired in. We ended up powering the house on gasoline pretty regularly without any named storms until we moved away from Houston.

During the freeze in 2021 or so, we had rolling blackouts. Myhouse was without power for 26 hours, 14 hours, 11 hours, 5 hours, 5 hours, 7 hours, 3 hours, 1.5 hours, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and 12 minutes or so that week.
Also, wind turbines kill approximately zero humans per gigawatt-hour. That cannot be said of coal or natural gas plants.
