And TFA article says as much. Maybe its not the amount of noise, but more noise equals bigger roadways, which equals more pollutants in the air, along with higher percentages of carbon monoxide and less oxygen in the air near their homes.

If their idea of marketing was "hack our business partner, get reported to the feds, then our business partner has to use a chinese competitors product" that's not a very good marketing plan. Your argument makes little sense.

This isn't really true anymore. Fiber used in telco can go many hundreds of miles and costs vastly less than 20 years ago. The equipment on the ends costs a tiny fraction more to go longer distances (or in some cases the exact same as short haul). The only big expense, is the manpower to drive a truck down the road and hang the fiber on those poles. Which is the part they don't want to do, and is exactly the part they agreed to do to get all the benefits of being a monopoly.

I am not arguing for or against AT&T. That said, in the majority of the locations AT&T wants to discontinue POTS service, there is no internet available. ATT would need to run fiber at great expense to bring internet to these homes.
Those are all purely software problems at this point.

I just watched the bodycam footage from this, and to my surprise these cops were very well behaved. They never cuffed the guy, or in any way escalated the situation. They figured out very quickly it was a mistake and let him on his way.
This is rare in the world of today's policing. So you gotta give credit to these guys. Everyone involved kept cool heads.
It is easier to change the specification to fit the program than vice versa.
