2 weeks ago my large company you've heard of had a townhall meeting where the CEO, who had hitherto been quite levelheaded and sensible about the AI stuff, finally threw all-in with the AI boosters and encouraged everyone to use as much AI as we could, for every possibly use we could think of.
3 days later we were out of tokens and even the useful stuff like support ticket summaries were unavailable.

6 x 4TB Z2, in a scavenged proliant with 64GB ECC, one 16T WD gold in a separate normal box as a backup target, and that machine has backblaze so it's offsite unlimited for $100 / year
initial 4TB drives bought as a lot of used ebay drives and replaced as they become marginal, but it's been years now and i've only replaced 2 of them with new red pros so far
everything's ticking along nicely, only thing i really need to do is switch over to Scale at some point. insane value for bits over time.

the problem is that everything worth having is scalped to hell and back now. "agentic commerce" is the back edge of that blade. in a world where everything is scalped out, how else are we to get anything except by paying even more out the nose that the already exorbitant prices being demanded by retailers.
