Where do you think DeCSS came from? It wasn't government intervention - it was the fucking market you looney!
If the government stayed out of this type of nonsense, the sheep could be fed whatever big media wanted to feed them while the intelligentsia could enjoy the freedom to decode whatever DRM-bullshit big media came out with.
The government didn't give fair use to the people. They restricted use to begin with and then opened up a very small hole and called it "fair use."
