One of the more frustrating things about working in the windoze context is the difficulty, or often impossibility, of automating tasks. Their design "philosophy", such as it is (or isn't) is that the user is an integral part of the computer system. It's damn hard to get done anything that involves a lengthy sequence of steps without sitting in front of the screen throughout the whole process, just so you can click "yes" at certain points.
As I have often said, one of the Microsoft tactics is to waste as much of the end-user's time as possible.
