Perhaps you are in Cuba, where I hear cars from the 1950's are still frequently in use (due to no better options).
I live the US, where pretty much anything beside an oil change gets expensive fast. Fuel pumps, water pumps, radiators, transmissions, catalytic convertors, spark plugs, starter motors, alternators, lead acid batteries... I had to replace a broken cam shaft in my car early this year. $4,000.
There are a lot of cars 10years old in junk yards. Never even made it to 10 years. And poorly maintained older ICE vehicles rarely perform as well as they did in their first few years.
EV battery replacement cost is certainly something to think about. But it is not the obvious win for ICEs that you seem to think it is. And at some critical mass of EVs on the road, there will likely be many cheaper after-market battery replacement options available, just like the plethora of smartphone screen fix-it centers.
