I finally gave in and got glasses, and now I really appreciate subpixel font rendering again... at 4k. This is a 42.5" diagonal TV at arm's length plus 4" or so, though.

It's pretty nice hardware. If it would run Linux well, and you didn't need x86 compatibility, it would be reasonable. I've used both, I far prefer Linux. KDE delivers much better on the promise of NeXTStep than does OSX.

Well, given that Waymo has been testing for nearly 20 years and been operating commercially for six years, currently operating nearly 4000 vehicles in 11 cities doing 500k rides per week... there's not a lot of risk.

Roads in Munich aren't terribly different from roads in US cities. Stoplights work a little differently. Munich does get a little snow, but rarely very much and it almost never lasts long. If Waymo's vehicles can't deal with it they may just suspend service... though I expect they'll probably handle it fine. They're supposed to go live in Detroit and Minneapolis this year, and if they can handle the weather there (where just shutting down for snow is not an option), Munich will be no problem at all.

I can do it, but it's irritating. The most they have ever had me verify I'm human was three times in one day. They used to use a lot of irritating minigame type captchas like slide the puzzle piece, but now they are using mostly just a slider — at least visibly. I have firefox set to ask before allowing a site audio, and it asked me if AliExpress could have it and I told it no. They seem to have finally given up on hassling me for notifications, so right now I am relatively pleased with them except for their garbage search.

They have also recently inserted AI descriptions, which are predictably shitty. However, they are in small text so they are easy to scroll past. Where they actually should use AI is in metadata. Even if it was wrong a lot of the time, it would still be more helpful than what they have now, which is nothing. I think every Chinese seller would simply game the metadata constantly. But if it's all AI generated from the listings, photos, uploads, etc then it might actually be useful let's say 80% of the time, where I find search to be good about 20% of the time now, and only useful maybe 40% of the time.

Don't let the people who just don't bother to register off the hook. Part of my job is asking people if they want to register. Lots of them that could don't bother. Many of those still want to complain... Yawn. Not interested. At least vote, THEN complain.
