We've all asked this at one time or another, but since I'm kinda asking everyone questions, why not go ahead and ask from what part of this globe you are from?

You can go as close as city, or as far away as country. Like I'm in the US, or I'm in the US/Midwest, or I'm in the US Cincinnati, OH.

Where are you from?

I'm not a Luxembourger (no Hamburger/Yummy jokes, thank you....) yet, but I applied for nationalization last fall. For the coming two years I'll still be a Belgian. My friend always referred to me as "The Luxembourger" and I took that name with pride. My passport says I'm Belgian, but my heart says I'm a Luxembourger.

  luxemburg is a beautiful place. i imagine paris would be a little prettier if they took a lesson from the LUXers and picked up the dog shit. i spent a few months in thionville, france, which is near metz, so i got to go to luxembourg a few times. really nice place. also enjoyed the (to me) bizarre mixture of languages.

    It's better be clean for the taxes I pay ;-) (Note to potential tourists: Luxembourg *is* very pretty and if you're got limited time, just visit the capital. Plenty of stuff to see there... Rich history, ya know.)
    I don't think that the mixture of languages is so bizzare. It is essentially the related to the fact that it's so small, is surrounded by countries with different languages. Apart from that, many institutions of the European Union are based here, resulting in a culturally diverse population

      i should have been more clear. bizarre wasn't really the right word. it wasn't any kind of judgement, but rather a facination. in the US, i see signs in english. sometimes we have signs in spanish if there is a large hispanic community in the area. sometimes our products have french on them because we share a market with canada. but in luxemburg it'a all condensed. it's cool for me because i enjoy languages. letzebourgish (spelling?) looks like a conglomeration of all languages i've ever studied. i

        Well, you see. I don't see these things anymore. After all I speak/read five languages. For example, if I watch a movie in the evening (unfortunately dubbed) and the next day you ask me in what language it was, I am unable to tell. At a certain moment you start to think in a all those language.
        Luxembourgish (never figured out how to write it in Luxembourgish itself, I know how to say it and your spelling is pretty accurate), is indeed quite an oddball language. We used to kid that you just take French

There are so many "edge cities" and created locales (like Reston, which was built from scratch) that Fairfax is largely meaningless.

Born on Fort Jackson, in Columbia, SC. Raised in a suburb of Columbia called "Irmo", as well as Augusta, GA (from age 7-20). Went to GA Tech for a brief time, so I guess I can list Atlanta, as well. Since Adulthood, lived in Union (SC, yes where that lady drowned her kids), and Landrum (SC, right where I-26 goes into NC). Moved to San Jose (CA -- lived in San Jose proper, not Cupertino, etc.)

    Atlanta's ... well, it is what it is. It's the civilized part of the South. It's the place where people from other parts of the country can live in their crowded suburbs and think they're living in the South, with all of its 'rustic charm', etc. My great-aunt used to have a piece of land in Conyers, and it used to be a half-hour drive to Atlanta from Conyers. Now, Conyers is *in* Atlanta. *sigh*

Actually, I live in TN. I'm somewhere in the general vicinty of Knoxville.
PROs: Low Cost of Living, beautiful scenery, no state income tax, low housing/land costs, plenty of lakes/rivers, VERY little crime, warm weather most of the time but it still snows on occasion.
CONs: Very little night life, Rednecks, allergens, mosquitos, it isn't ATLANTA!!!
