Journal Ethelred Unraed's Journal: To add to the misery... 9

...when trying to reply to btlzu2 in my last JE, I got this interesting message:

Slow Down Cowboy!

Slashdot requires you to wait 2 minutes between each successful posting of a comment to allow everyone a fair chance at posting a comment.

It's been 9 minutes since you last successfully posted a comment

Does time suddenly work a different way than I remembered?

*sigh*

Does time suddenly work a different way than I remembered?

Yes, it does. Didn't you get the memo?
  • "There is the theory of the moebius. A twist in the fabric of space where time becomes a loop, from which there is no escape. When we reach that point, whatever happened will happen again."

I noticed too [slashdot.org]. Seems to be fixed now.

  • Of course time works differently here. I'm sure that like many others, you have always suspected that much of what is on Slashdot is removed from reality, this pretty much confirms confirms it.
  • I got up to 14 minutes trying to post a comment this morning.
  • like how my mechanic said that my car would be NO MORE THAN $1500, but the bill is $1709.

  • I'm pretty sure it has to do with DST and Time zones. Or something.

  • but you know what it's really saying, right?

"It's been 9 minutes since you last attempted to post a comment" Which resets the clock back to a two minute "penalty". You can take that number up as high as you want if you keep attempting to post within 1:59 of the previous attempt.
    • Ahhhhhh, now I finally understand the source of the bug. For some reason I didn't get what could have produced it...though I also didn't put much more thought into it, as it's much easier and spiritually rewarding to slam Slashdot at the slightest provocation. ;-)

      Cheers,

      Ethelred
