If there's one thing that deus ex taught me, is that the illuminati do exist.
  • WTF is an illuminati?

I may have heard of it, but have no idea what it is. Obviously they must not really exist.

    • if you have some time, do a google search. ;)
    • Go out, buy the game "Deus Ex"... play through it for about a month. You'll know everything, then.

Basically, its the "Invisible hand that controls the world." A secret society established (some controversy, some say when the founding fathers found america, some say even earlier than that) to dominate the world. Its members include the business and political elite. Usually the Business elite are on top, and the political elite are the stoolies.

There's lotsa cool books on it and such, but the movies (
    • Read Angels and Demons

And then forget everything Dan Brown says about the Illuminati, because he can't even seem to get the imaginary facts right.

      • what's your opinion on the Illuminati?

What do you think that's so different from what Dan has to say?

Cause as far as I can tell he's taken some liberties, but not too many.

        • The Illuminati were not founded by Galileo as an anti-christian organization. That's the whole bloody ROOT of the book, and it's completely bogus. The only historical Illuminati you can connect to are the ones founded by Weishaupt in 1776 in Germany, and he hardly even mentions them. Further to the point, he makes huge hay over the whole "science and religion have been at each others throats for millenia" which is also bullshit. Some of the leading scientific thinkers of the middle ages were MONKS fer c
          • what he did with the daVinci Code, which also involves semimythical organizations, he actually did some research and made a book that *was* consistent with the body of work that's out there about the Priory and so forth

However, most of that body of work has been discredited. Overall though, not a bad story and at least he did his research (to an extent) this time.

One gripe I have with Dan Brown's books is the disclaimers: "Absolutely everything in this book is 100% bona fide, certified true and it all ac
            • When you're talking about organizations that don't really exist, they're kind of discredited from the get-go eh? :-)

I don't recall any disclaimers, but then I wasn't paying close attention to the overleaf etc.

Well, the Priory of Sion [priory-of-sion.com] did exist, although it was formed in the 1950s by a nut-job who believed he was the rightful heir to the French throne. Probably not a very creditable organisation however...

The preface to most (if not all) of his books generally states that everything is based on fact. H

Though none of these Illuminati, neither past nor present, have been *that kind of* Illuminati. They don't rule the world, that is.
  • And now I have to kill you. Sorry old chum...

  • Check this out [rotten.com]. Its a classic meeting of your Trilateral/CFR/Bohemian Grove juggernauts to plan the fate of the world... and there's no man behind the curtain. The simple standards of ignorance, antipathy, and violence are enough to account for all the ills in the world.

And we all know that the war is between the Freemasons and the Khatchaturians for not the confirmation of a universal government but the solidifying of the nurturing fabric of culture. Fuck, any government is passe when we control the le
