Yeah. It snowed last night. Best commute I've had in years. NO ONE was on the roads. Took me 25 minutes to get to work this morning. SUCKERS.

  • That reminds me of the time it snowed in Orlando when I was there. Winter of '83/'84. While driving around I felt like Charlton Heston in The Omega Man.

    It was a beautiful thing.

And don't forget to stock up on Bud. I'd hate to see you let that go.

The doesn't keep anybody from going no faster than 25mph and refusing to pull over and let me pass here. Bastards.
  • You had no traffic to work... I got a snow day!

    Whee!
  • This [mbnet.fi] is how it looked like from my apartment window two hours ago.
  • Only got about a half inch where I am. And none of it stuck to the roads, which were just wet and only occassionally slushy.

But at least it was a heavy, wet snow, perfect for making snowballs :)

Maryland would be closed. (well, the DC area would be.)
And various parts of Montgomery County/PG county would lose power. Just because.
  • Sounds like a nice summer day to me hehe ;-)
  • the stores were hit last night when people heard it MIGHT snow. :-)
  • Yawn... We have 156 inches and counting for this season, let me know when you hit that number.
    • slight difference between where you are and where I am I think.

If I get 156 inches of snow here, trust me, I won't need to let you know about it, you'll have heard.
      • No offense intended nor was I attempting to trivialize what you posted. I realize that some places get snow regularly and others don't (and that some places shut down at the mere possibility of getting snow) Just an "On the other end of the spectrum" type of thing.
        • Oh yeah, I completely understood.

I lived in the mountains most of my formative years. It was nothing to get several feet a year.

The south just isn't equiped to handle snow.

I'm worried this stuff will freeze after slushing. They don't have a single snow plow or salt truck that I know of in all of Atlanta. It's gonna be damned slick if it freezes. Many many wrecks will occur.
          • Be sure to tell us all about it!

All of those fools who don't know how to slow down when the roads are slick deserve to wreck. I only feel sorry for the people who they hit (assuming they weren't going to fast anyway). Stuff like that happens alot in my state (NM), where it almost never snows. I've already almost been in a wreck twice due to this weather system.
            • What part of NM? I grew up near Farmington up in the NW corner of the state. (30 miles from Durango CO and some wicked snow boarding)

Anyhow, the reason I ask is cause I am assuming down south. I lived at 6000 feet, and routinely went above 7000. Mountainous, and we got snow a good bit. (there's snow on the ground now, according to my grand parents)
              • > What part of NM?

Albuquerque, about 10 minutes from unm, in the north east quadrant.

I know that it isn't that rare for the mountains to have snow (and the snow doenst melt off half an hour after the sun comes up), but the valley only gets snow about 2-3 times a year. It usually
