Comment my 40TB home solution (Score 1) 4

I have 2 MacBooks, and I network attach 6 Seagate 5TB portable external drives to those Macs (three to each of the 2 Macs). That's about 30TB available directly over my home router.

Seems to work fine, and the Seagates are far less costly than most NAS drives. Though, they do die occasionally. Oops.

Basically, I found a way to make my older Mac useful by simply leaving it on all the time, with the external drives attached.

Right, Sure.

"Astronomers Grapple with JWST’s Discovery of Early Galaxies" is an article, this month in Scientific American.

Here's the gist of it: "Researchers are convinced the James Webb Space Telescope has glimpsed an unexpected population of galaxies in the early universe. Now they’re trying to decide what this means for our understanding of the cosmos."

Similar articles have been posted on Nature.com and Space.com.

As the science advances, maybe we'll learn more about this. Right now, any statement of certainty is simply fake BS.

Yeah, it wasn't mine. It belonged to IBM Watson Labs at Columbia University, and I was a Freshman in college.

The IBM 650 was a 2,000-word, drum-based machine that I programmed in machine language, SOAP, and Fortransit, feeding punched cards into the beast, and thrilled when any results appeared on the printer.

This is always the way science works. Never quite sure the current theology is correct, and always on the lookout for things that don't fit. Jeepers, they're still looking for things that don't fit Einstein's General Theory of Relativity.

On the other hand, Pitlochry is not all that far from Loch Ness, when traveling at warp speed or faster. So, maybe it was just off course.

It seems like a coherent analysis from the Chinese point of view. In that regard, it's quite illuminating.
