I seem to remember the Iraq-area wars that the US was involved in going on far longer and less of an oil crisis happening this fast.
That would be because even during those wars and conflicts, we didn't have an orange-painted pedophilic retard with delusions of grandeur causing a weekslong blockage of the major shipping lane through which ~35% of the world's crude oil trade flows.
The closest we've seen recently was when the Ever Given got stuck in the Suez during 2021, and even that only lasted for 6 days. Plus, it wasn't as big a deal because less oil was being used worldwide during pandemic countermeasures.
The closest in the past 100 years is when Treasonous Klanbitch Ronny Reagan betrayed the USA and convinced the Iranian Ayatollah to cut off shipping to hurt Carter in the 1980 election, in trade for guns and other military supplies that the Treasonshit Republicans paid out later during Reagan's terms.
Limited screen real estate is never not going to be an issue. I mean, I suppose if I wanted to swivel my head around all the time on a giant multi-monitor setup it might be possible to have enough screen real estate most of the time without overlapping windows, but meh, most of the time I'm on a laptop anyway. And focus follows mouse is just infuriating.
I absolutely hate focus follows mouse. I remember encountering it back in the '80s and the first thing I did was figure out how to turn it off.
I can't imagine a use case for it that would ever work for me.
One does not make money by kicking out paying customers.
If I'm going to watch a movie, I want it in an environment where I control the lighting, the food, the temperature, and the sound level, and I can hit pause if I want to grab a fresh drink. So I'm probably never going to a movie theater again. The "phone fuckers" (whatever that means) and people who have no interest in you wanting them to shut up are their paying customers now.
Let it go, watch movies at home.
There are ads on Slashdot?
I think I saw one years ago. I used to have a checkbox that was labeled "disable advertising" up under my username, but that seems to have disappeared, never saw any ads either way.
Time to switch adblockers if you're seeing them.
