Submission + - Ouya Opens Pre-Orders After Gaining $8.6 Million in Kickstarter Funds (pcmag.com)

Chameleon Man writes: "Early this morning, the Android-based Ouya console ended its run on Kickstarter with nearly $8.6 million in user donations. In recent weeks, the company has secured a number of content partners for the device, but now it's time to see if Ouya can really deliver. Interested buyers can now pre-order an Ouya on the company's website. In the U.S., one console and one controller will cost $109, one console plus two controllers will be $139, and one console and four controllers will be $199. All orders include a $10 shipping charge." Here's to hoping that an open-source console can gain a foothold in an already competitive market.

Submission + - Sprint HTC EVO 4G Release Date Confirmed, $199 (engadget.com)

Chameleon Man writes: The first 4G phone ever to be released, the HTC EVO 4G announced back in March, has finally come with a release date of June 4th. Along with the release date, Sprint has provided information on phone plans and pricing. From Engadget: 'Unfortunately, there's a downside to all this: customers will be paying a mandatory (as confirmed to us by Sprint reps) $10 per month "Premium Data add-on" on top of their plan — ostensibly for the privilege of enjoying WiMAX when they're in a Sprint 4G market — and the 8-device WiFi hotspot feature runs an extra $29.99 a month, which Sprint is quick to point out is half what you'd pay for a dedicated mobile broadband account.'

In 4G areas, it might be a formidable option for anyone who hates their ISP...*ehem* Comcast *ehem*.
