The lefty blogs are all excited today about a possible Palin-Thatcher summit. The real meat of the story seems to be about David Cameron getting his bollocks kicked in over all this, which is fine by me really.
Anyway, there seems to be a sentiment that the Iron Lady, not historically known to suffer fools, will potentially will be very critical of Palin.
And that ain't gonna happen.
Speaking from personal experience, she was already pretty much done in by the mid-90s. Another 15 years later, and I'd be surprised to know she could tell the difference between Palin and a turnip, so if this meeting does happen, it'll be all sunshine and ponies.
While we're on the subject, the conventional wisdom, as evidenced by this email by Newsweek's Lisa Miller, still appears to be that:
In some quarters, the left so loves to loathe Palin that it can't or won't acknowledge the real power she has among millions of people.
Chalk it up to typical lazy MSM reporting, I guess. I have yet to find more than a few people who happily exclaim that they hate and fear Palin. Almost all the lefties I've encountered would, like me, love for her to run for office. She may have 'millions' of supporters, but every single poll put out since she torpedoed McCain's run in 2008 have conclusively shown that she doesn't really have a snowball's chance in hell.
In fact, for every one of her vaunted supporters, I betcha I could find a leftie who would love the chance to witness her humiliation at the polls again. But the sad truth for all the wingnuts out there is that she won't run. The fame and the money and the access she enjoys are far too good for her to ever pass up. Who wants to do actual work when people are falling over themselves to pay you for every single brainfart you have?

Well, yeah, that's because a percentage of the line workers control things, not management, not the board, not the shareholders. Silly liberal!

The dismissal of Palin's political viability reminds me of the way that Reagan was regarded before the 1976 GOP presidential primary.
I don't think that many people who were in Berkeley in 1969 could have imagined that Reagan and Meese would soon be in the White House. But it happened, and the tactics that worked then still work now.
For now, anyway. Demographics are changing in the U.S., and appealing to scared white people + a scoop of the easily distracted "independents" isn't going to be

Yeah, but that era is over, or over soon - one of the main reasons Palin's support doesn't extend much beyond those few million that form here core support.
I hear ya on Reagan, but you're missing a few important things. One, his charisma and pol skills dwarf hers. She can bone up as much as she wants over the next few years and she still won't touch him. Second, Reagan put in the work over a couple of decades. He didn't quit after a year and bitch about how eve
