Command Lines and the Future of Firefox 360

Barence writes "Mozilla has revealed how it plans to integrate plain text commands directly into future versions of Firefox. Dubbed Taskfox, the move sees Mozilla's Ubiquity project become part of the browser itself, allowing users to type commands directly into the address bar. You can, for example, type 'map cleveland street london' to bring up a Google Map of that location, or 'amazon-search the great gatsby' to find that book on Amazon, without visiting the website directly. 'The basic idea behind Taskfox is simple: take the time-saving ideas behind Ubiquity, and put them into Firefox,' the Taskfox wiki claims. 'That means allowing users to quickly access information and perform tasks that would normally take several steps to complete.'"

Adam Savage Revises Claim of Lawyer-Bullying On RFID Show 301

Nick writes "A few weeks ago a video of a talk given by Adam Savage of the television show MythBusters spread across the internet (including a mention on Slashdot.) On the video, Savage stated that the show was unable to produce an episode about previously known RFID vulnerabilities due to a conference call to Texas Instruments that unexpectedly included several credit card companies' legal counsel. TI (via a spokesperson talking with cnet.com) stated that only one lawyer was on the call and that the majority of the people on the call were product managers from the Smart Card Alliance (SCA) invited by TI to speak. Then Savage (via a Discovery Communications statement) reaffirmed that he was not on the call himself and that the decision was not made by Discovery or their advertising sales department but rather MythBuster's production company, Beyond Productions."

Submission + - NVidia, AMD subpoenaed in antitrust investigation

mustardayonnaise writes: CNN Money is reporting that graphics chipmakers Nvidia and AMD (having recently acquired NVidia rival ATI) said Friday that they received subpoenas from the US Department of Justice as part of a probe into potential antitrust violations involving graphics processing units and cards. Each company controls about 25% of the entire graphics chip market. Funny, I would've assumed they controlled a great deal more than that. According to the article, Intel, who makes their own fair share of graphics chipsets, has yet to be included in the investigation.

There is this stupid new theory in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) land.

Buildings don't need to be heated! Seriously! They just need to be cooled. See, with the lights, computers, people, and all the other crud running, the only work that needs to be done is the removal of excess heat. Money can be saved by not even BUILDING a heater into new buildings!
