I don't disagree with you, but sponsoring a bunch of people in research design a project, and letting a bunch of bozzos in the government oversee it are two very different things.

The government is a huge set of different people, with different priorities. And to be honest, the technical problems are a lot easier to solve than sorting out this mess.

Methane can be stored in two major ways: 1) high pressure/adsorbed on to a sponge-like material or 2) in cryogenic liquid form. Err ... no. You're confusion methane and hydrogen.

Methane is much easier to store than hydrogen. And storage facilities for methane already exist and would just need to be expanded, compared to hydrogen which requires new technology. Produced methane could be fed almost directly into the already existing and well-established natural gas distribution and storage network.

To add to the other poster's response, there really are just 3 wireless channels in the US: 1, 6, and 11. 1 actually ranges from 1 - 3, 6 ranges from 4 - 8, 11 ranges from 9 - 11.

There are about 28 wireless networks that my computer can see at the moment, all of which are consuming the airspace in one of those 3 channels. Because of this, networks will barely propogate through an entire apartment. If you need to hit two apartments, or a back porch, you need to put up more than one router, making the problem that much worse for the people around you.

I think he hits it right on the head. Politicians on both sides disseminate blatant lies as facts, and the news media just picks it up and reports it as truths. That's the problem. It's very difficult for the average joe to filter out the lies from facts, and that hurts democracy. Today's news media is a propaganda machine the Soviets only could have dreamed of.

There's strong public campaigns at the moment for the Lib Dems not to compromise on electoral reform -- after all this is a once in a generation opportunity.

Electoral reform is the one thing I want to see achieved in this parliament.

Yeah that I agree with. That will be a big fat NO DEAL with the conservatives if they do that. The pressue is going to be building, and the only potentially stable goverment is some sort of conservative/Lib Dem deal. If Labour and the LD had got a few more seats (enough so they had a majority between them), then life would be a lot more intersteing. A good grass roots campaign on electoral reform is good, it gives the Lib Dems the oportunity to walk away if they have to, and do a deal with Labour. There is pressure building the other way, wiht "get a deal done by wednesday or the markets will tank" vibe being put out.

I am trying to decide if you glossed over things for the funny, or if you really didn't think through the fact that as little as a few hundred years ago, any human that spent any time around some other mammals would know full well that the young ones drink the stuff that comes out of there.

Screen burns is not an issue. I've owned a plasma TV for more than 4 years now. I've tried to produce screen burns with static images with bright parts, but after 48 hours there was hardly anything. You might see something for 3 seconds, but after those 3 seconds its gone forever.

And the resolution thing is bullshit, when it comes to sharpness on video, high refresh rate is everything.

I may seem unlogical, however my 1024x768 plasma has sharper image when it comes to videoes than a 1080P LCD. This is because of the high refresh rate and that plasma has subpixels.
LCD is sharper when it comes to still images, but I still wouldn't show my DLSR images on a LCD TV because the huge lack of colors and contrast.

I think you should go and buy a plasma just to try yourself!
