> lock in That sounds like the least researched comment on the subject of UPI because this lock in simply does not exist because it was made to not exist by design. Upi is built on top of an existing technology called IMPS which stands for Instant Money Transfer System. This is a functionality similar to wiring money in the United states except it's almost instant (10 sec) but limited to a maximum of Rs. 5,00,000; what matters is that that this underlying tech is transferring money not from an app wallet to another wallet but from a bank account to a bank account with these apps basically being only a medium to scan QR codes for most people using UPI, however due to the recent boom of digital payments in india everyone and their dog has made added UPI functionality to their existing online banking apps, budgeting apps, online shopping (see: amazon pay). This coupled with the fact that UPI does not have any convienence fee has led to quite a large variety of options for the consumer with most people maintaining several UPI applications (why wouldn't you, it's free and might get you the occasional coupon). The reason why google pay and phonepe work is mostly because of a great user experience and a huge marketing budget. And about the bureaucracy, it is quite dysfunctional at times but ever since demonetization back in 2016, Modi knows that the only way he can bring back any trust in the financial system is a better bureaucracy, which works but is mostly just him saving face.

Well, that's all we can do, Room Temp Superconductors are one of those things everyone wants to make, but that's hard so we do the next "best" thing; lie. But when the outcomes of a true usable-at-liveable-temperature-and-pressure superconductor essentially guarantees rainbows in the sky forever, like sustainable fusion energy, maybe being hopeful ain't all that bad

Agreed, when the game chugs along it does come down to simply seeing still images or gentle movement However bitrates cannot be compromised since you never wanna lose the ball as a compression artifact; and since sometimes all the action comes down to tracking what is the equivalent of a few white pixels on the screen against a dark sky. in fact, since most of the coverage of the game involves following the ball (similar to football or hockey), losing the ball (which does sometimes happen since the ball is tiny compared to people and sometimes moves at hundreds of km an hour) is extremely jarring to the viewing experience

Seriously bro, you know, think about it, you have a lot of money, and you know what comes with a lot of money, a lot of people who want your money, and these are the "many people" you are talking about. Billions use the services Meta (as a group of companies) offers. idk how you expect to expand further, because you are kinda out of humans, even someone who looked at the situation for half an hour in like December 2020 when the economy boomed back could've predicted it wasn't gonna last forever, its was going to the cravings people have that would be promptly fulfilled (except maybe semiconductors but you are a software company who can rapidly innovate so that one really doesn't matter)

AleRunner writes: The register has put together an up to date summary of the top ten options for Linux:

It is a truth universally acknowledged that all operating systems suck. Some just suck less than others.

It is also a comment under pretty much every Reg article on Linux that there are too many to choose from and that it's impossible to know which one to try. So we thought we'd simplify things for you by listing how and in which ways the different options suck.. They give a good summary of the state of each of their top 9 favourites.

Submission + - Zero-day in Microsoft Office will work even when macros are disabled (theregister.com)

Z00L00K writes: Infosec researchers have idenitied a zero-day code execution vulnerability in Microsoft's ubiquitous Office software.

Dubbed "Follina", the vulnerability has been floating around for a while (cybersecurity researcher Kevin Beaumont traced it back to a report made to Microsoft on April 12) and uses Office functionality to retrieve a HTML file which in turn makes use of the Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool (MSDT) to run some code.
