My last video card was an 8800GTS (nVidia).

I recently bought a 4890 (ATI).

With Windows 7, you can load both drivers and have both cards in the computer at the same time, doing exactly what this article is talking about. I could have done this!

Was I planning on doing it? No. But, if a game came out with Physx support and I wanted to, I was hoping I could do it.

Now, no chance.

Like I said. I bought ATI this time. 'nough said.

And, what about murder? Oh, Tom Clancy wrote a great book, that I want to publish? Pay the mob to knock him off, and it's free game.

14 years + a single 14 year renewal (if the original author is still alive and interested in it) is just fine, thank you.

Imagine, the original Star Wars would be in the Public Domain. The early Star Trek. Battlestar Galactica. How much fun would that be to have the freedom to pit a cylon army against storm troopers in a full movie?

And, how much does it take to make a movie? $50 million? $100 million? And, how much does that DVD cost? $20, or even $10 at Walmart?

Last time I checked, taking advantage of someone's enjoyment of their work by not paying them is called exploitation. How about, if because you like to program, your employer decided not to pay you.

Talk to Linus about that, will ya? With all the people in the world using Linux, he should be a millionaire. Oh ya, he voluntarily gave it away!

Artists work. They deserve to be paid for what they do.

You really believe that statement? They deserve to be paid? Wow. Please, read your statement over again. So, what if an artist puts their content up on a website for free, for anyone to download? Do they still deserve to be paid? If so, how much?

As soon as you say they "deserve to be paid" and the "how much" question comes into the equation, you know it's based on an incorrect principles.

If I look at a page like The Drudge Report, I can ctrl-click on 10 links, creating 10 background tabs. Then, I click on the first article tab, read a bit, close the tab. That shows me the 2nd article. Close it, and I get the 3rd. etc.

This way, I don't have to wait more than 50ms to go from article to article. They are already loaded in the background for me.

Doesn't everyone do this?

The big question is: Does it have enough legs to get it over the engineering hump and into real life.

Right now, it's questionable. Chicken and egg problem.

Even though it's feasible, is there enough money, need, and ambition in it *right now* to still get it to market?

Not sure.

And, considering some of the players are exiting, it doesn't bode well.
