This is why we need strong unions. Vote Democrat and support the workers!

Remind me how unions protect employees from layoffs?

They can't ultimately prevent lay-offs but they can help ensure that those who are laid off are not selected unfairly, and will be likely to have negotiated reasonable redundancy terms. By knowing that anyone who thinks they have been made redundant unfairly will have free (as in already paid for through subscriptions) access to union lawyers, companies are likely to ensure that selection is fair and only those who are genuinely redundant are let go.

I used to have a boss who was a problem gambler. I can guarantee that if he was told to stop he'd be straight down to the next casino, or bookies, or failing that a gambling machine in a pub. The only way he stopped was to cut off his source, which he could only do because he had the support of his wife who went to the bank with him, arranged to have all his credit removed, his wages paid into her account and then gave him a daily allowance for food and petrol. Even then he ran out of petrol once because he'd gambled the money away.

This is where things get really messy. If Russia and NATO really get going, China may see this as an opportunity to seize Taiwan, and North Korea may see this as an opportunity to take South Korea. There are plenty of hot spots in the world where the US being occupied elsewhere could signal opportunity to aggressors.

While nobody is looking Britain might take America back!

They may be trying to protect Western Europe, though the motivation would be to avoid the West entering the conflict. It looks extremely unlikely that the west will offer any direct military support to Ukraine. One thing that would make intervention a lot more likely is if the Russians were seen to either deliberately or through incompetence allow another reactor to melt down, again spreading radioactive fallout across Europe. The Ukrainians must have thought about false flag attacks, hopefully dismissing anything so radical, but Russia must consider this possibility. So maybe they are taking control to avoid the situation.

I believe only in the instance of clear serious error. You get paid £3,000,000 one month instead of £3.000 they can reverse it provided it does not take you overdrawn. They say that you should have been paid £2.990 but they dispute a claim for a parking ticket, this is not a clear error rather a dispute and they'd leave it for the company to sort out with you.
