Comment Bring back Myth! (Score 4, Interesting) 52

I think Bungie, or Microsoft or whoever thinks that Halo is so bloody popular because it's Halo. Which is probably true, but only in the realms of first person shooters. Once you take all that generic space marine action and bring it into the realm of giants like Starcraft, and Dawn of War, and even Command and Conquer (though not really a space marine RTS). Halo starts to look a lot more stale, and it becomes obvious that the developers are more interested in making money than innovative games. If they were interested in good games they'd bring back Myth.

It's apparently fairly easy to fool a lie detector, and it's gotten to the point now where lie detector tests can't be submitted as evidence in court because they're so unreliable. Mind you, they still have a use on Maury to determine who's been cheating on who. That's always entertaining.

That's a complete strawman argument. I wasn't arguing against the existence of the technology of spying on people I was saying this guy doesn't seem credible based on the lack of evidence. He makes a lot of vague statements that people, especially on the network he's being interviewed on are more than willing to believe. No different than a UFO proponant making their claims to a sympathetic audience. Doesn't mean either is telling the truth though.

That's is sort of a dumb argument. The idea is that if gamers try a game and decide it's not worth buying, they won't buy it? Does this apply to game rentals as well? What about game reviews? In those cases developers won't see any revenue for their games, but it allows gamers a glimpse of what the game is. In the perfect world developers would make nothing but great games and we wouldn't have to worry about trying them before hand. Unfortunately that's not the case.

A similar thing happened to me. I bought a blu-ray player, then one day I came home and found my house ransacked and my blu-ray player was gone. I'm still waiting for Samsung to send my blu-ray player back with the updates. I don't have any problems with these companies being vigilant about their update services. I just really wish they wouldn't spraypaint swastikas on my furniture.

The droves of victims of this economic collapse all paid into the EI fund from their own paycheques while they were working. Also when you apply online you get your cheques sooner. So that's the reason people would be doing that. Plus when you apply for EI online you have to go into the office anyway to drop off your ROE. Plus a number of cities have amalgamated their EI offices into other offices as well, so it's a bloody ordeal just going in to just drop the papers off.

Slashdot had an article a few days ago about the insane cheapness of text messages. Something to the effect of your monthly cellphone bill could pay for all the text messages ever transmitted world wide since the advent of text messages. Something like that is so appalling you'd think people would be crucifying the cell providers. But no, they don't. No riots, nobody particularly cares.
