Hey, I'm all for ending the war on drugs, but Coca-Cola was not trying to taste like cocaine, it was made with cocaine -- 9 mg per glass until 1909. Coca leaves, kola nut extract, carbonated water and sugar. I can understand why they'd drink it.
But what we have now is worthless to consume and not even that pleasant. The reason we consume it is because we're told we should. By advertising. Mmmm... Slurm!
Personally, I feel that if we're going to colonize the moon (or Mars), that responsibility should not be put in the hands of NASA, the USA, or any other hypercapitalist nation for that matter. What these bean counters love to ignore is that, once we hit space, money/wealth will quickly become irrelevant. I don't know about you, but I can't picture debt collectors chasing me through the galaxy so some dirty banker can buy a diamond-encrusted iPad.
Can you explain what, exactly, was uncertain about what new features IE8 was going to have, and (perhaps more importantly) what it was not going to have?
>When my car got stuck, sure it was a little surprising at first, hard to slow down for the turn I already committed myself to (stood with my full weight on the brake) but after >that I put it in neutral (it is an automatic, they have an N position) and when the motor started revving like crazy I just turned off my engine (careful to only click once so >the steering wheel lock isn't activated), flipped on my hazard lights and coasted to a place where I could pull over conveniently.
>What I don't understand is how I can figure this out, but a CHP officer kills his family in a 100mph crash from the same sort of problem? Yes, he got going that fast, without >ever thinking about just turning the damn thing off. California's finest indeed, it's sad because the CHP are held up as experts in driving and safety.
That's just a part of the myth they maintain, that they're the experts in everything to do with cars and their operation. In reality the CHP is a bunch of state sanctioned thugs who try to maximize profit by handing out as many tickets as possible. It just goes to show that the CHP officer who crashed due to the stuck accelerator didn't have the critical thinking skills needed to get out of the situation.
I bet you were bottle fed, weren't you? The advent of the baby bottle is affecting evolution of the species quicker than crack.
I've suggested many times splitting the US in half - one side follow libertarianism (what the country was founded on), and the other side follows your collectivist views. Then after say 30 years, see how many people want to stay on each side.
Amusingly, it's always been the people in your camp who cry "That's not fair!" because you know it's the hardworking and responsible "evil" capitalists that make it possible for leeches like you to have your collectivist societies, paid for by their work and sweat.
According to Lenta.ru, the current nozzles will be replaced with thrust-vectoring ones when the plane batch production starts.
"Tivo-ization" was never a threat to anyone's freedom. It was a threat to RMS's agenda. Tivo never advertised its hardware as able to run arbitrary software and it complied fully with the GPL.
The iPad is what GPL fanatics work themselves into a frenzy pretending the Tivo to be.
Except products more open than Apple's do exist (lots of them!) And 90+% of people are buying those products. No one is asking for things for free, so you can take that straw man elsewhere.
If we're going to have hype about Apple splashed all over the media as if it was election day, with people saying how wonderful Apple are, then people equally have the right to voice their criticisms of that product.
"Most of the real security problems are at the OS/application level. Not the underlying internet."
Sure. The Internet design avoids any security problems by officially assigning the problem to somebody else.
Of course you missed the tiny adapter that allows you to plug inyour camera via usb or insert the SD card.
Yes I did. It wasn't in TFA (or any other), was it? How much does it cost extra?
Read before whine, it will save you some humiliation.
Flamebaiter. By all means, go ahead and buy it - just spare me the withering fanboy invective before you haven't even used it.
I did a lot of research, so I thought I knew what I was getting into. To my surprise, one of the most important functions I wanted in a book reader was not there -- I could not import my own documents.
Seems that the problem there is that you suck at product research. Seriously. An iPod Touch for book reading? About an hour of research with Google would have revealed a myriad of devices with better ebook capabilities than the iPod Touch.
Then don't buy the fucking car? What part of choice are you missing? Is it that you WANT to be a trendy homosexual hipster yuppie but can't afford the price of admission? No one is twisting your arm to purchase it. You are just bitching on other peoples behalf.
Happiness is twin floppies.
