Journal Journal: Conversion 1 complete

now starting on a new conversion. :)

Not as busy as I'd like to be, but I'm sure that will come in time...

Journal Journal: So far so good!

3 weeks in and I'm still uncertain what my job description is. Currently, I'm helping making server controls. It's fun and some of it is challenging.

The people are good, though. Great senses of humor... that makes a world of difference!!!! :)

User Journal

Journal Journal: Yup.. Happy Friday the 13th

Yeah.. a good number of people were laid off on .. yup, you got it... Friday the 13th.

But I'm baaaack!!! :)

Well, back into the realms of employment anyway.. *grin*

A whole month of downtime...

Damn.. don't want to do THAT again...

User Journal

Journal Journal: I won't know until tomorrow late afternoon

*sigh*

It's the not knowing that is killing me... and everyone else who works here. The tension level is skyrocketing.. stress levels... oh hell..

There is a big black cloud over this building...

And being a small town, EVERYONE is talking...

blah.

I just wanna KNOW!!!!!!!

Journal Journal: Does that cause a problem? *warning - heavy sarcasm* 2

My boss just changed all the field names in a database that I'm inserting into and my co-worker is retrieving information from.

When I asked him what was up, he said he did it to make them more clear to someone who is going to be using a spread sheet. (He added numerical values for the question numbers).

Then he asked:

"Does that cause a problem?"

OMG!

He became IT Manager HOW?!?!?!??!

User Journal

Journal Journal: Plan for the future..

Today, I got that, what is your plan in the future of our company speech.

LOL

I was honest. Yeah, I'd been looking. Nothing yet.

I told 'em I knew I was low man on the totem pole, being the most recently hired programmer.

yes, I KNOW programmers are the bottleneck of a company. (Does EVERYONE use that line?)

Perhaps, a contracted, project by project option may be of interest to me, but only for short term, definitely not for long term.

He told me he appreciated my honesty. (Can you say I prally shocked him?)

Journal Journal: Roller Coaster

Some days are good, some aren't so good.

My new projects are awesome (except for the fact that I have completed them in less than 2 days time, each), but my original project that has caused so much hell seems to never end, with the Client wanting changes, process changes, page changes, (and it is the process changes that are the worst because they affect everything else).

Why couldn't this place have a nice change procedure in place instead of requiring all the changes done yesterday?

I guess I'm just dreaming....

*sigh*

Still no true "bites". Still looking.. still waiting.. and hoping!!

Although there is one on the burner which has tremendous possibility... and would be quite exciting in more ways than one.. :)

Journal Journal: Interesting

Today we had a company meeting where it was announced that we may possibly but not for certain be losing our main customer / client.

We were told that there would be no raises this year.

But that we are moving forward and next year we would be even better than we are now with new clients and moving forward into the next generation of clients.

Hmmm.....

Journal Journal: Sent this to my boss today..

(Names removed to protect the innocent... and the guilty!)

Good morning boss lady,
I just sent this email to my supervisor, but I wanted to send you a copy as well.

---

My upload newsletter pages are reverted back.

I remembered that Programming crashed hard on August 9th.
This is approximately the time that things started disappearing.

My co-worker said something about page files and not being able to resolve differences. My computer also crashed that day and I had to go backwards to get the last save point for the registry. All together, this may have caused the loss of code.

The best way to prevent this from happening in the future is to purchase better computers and equipment. This company has become a heavy data-driven company and since we are using mySQL instead of MS SQL and servers as well as using substandard components and boards instead of high quality ones, I don't see the problems resolving themselves. In fact, I could see issues becoming worse before they ever become better.

----
Boss Lady,
Lexinet is dependant now on the information on these servers. The loss of any of these servers (and numerous ones like it happened the other day) would be detrimental to your company. I would like to think that when it comes to saving the integrity of Lexinet, especially in the face of our customers, cost would not be an issue.

I have never had my code disappear like that before. It is very frustrating and a lot of my time the last few days has been spent on fixing things that were already working at one point. I am now trying to make backups of my code daily, but then I fear that my computer will die again or that a server that I back up to will die.

These are my thoughts and concerns. I hope you don't mind my sharing them with you.

Journal Journal: Scapegoat...

Well, if things continue the way they are, I can see this company using me as a scapegoat... but, sadly, that won't solve the problems that are cropping up. *sigh*

On a positive note:
Well, maybe not positive, but interesting and justice being served:

My old job...
My annoying co-worker quit a couple months ago (I may have mentioned this in a previous entry). -- But it was expected.
My cool co-worker quit (I believe quit) but I don't know why.. 2-3 weeks ago.
The Project Manager who caused me so much grief, quit about a month ago.
And finally,
Friday, the newest co-worker (before I left) that was cool and really smart, gave his two weeks, and was promptly escorted out by a pissed off VP that same day.
His co-workers (co-horts?) were instantly fired.

There is no one left in the IT / Programming department at my old job!!

Now THAT is pretty damn cool!!
That VP prally pissed the lot of them off... he was the one who has been causing problems since he became VP. Hmmm... another case of power going to one's head!!!

Journal Journal: Still here.. still doggin away

In case anyone is readin this.
I'm still at the same company.
The project is nearing completion.

I'm ready for it to be done.

I'm ready to be comfortable looking for a new job.

No unfinished business....

User Journal

Journal Journal: To make matters worse...

I was bitchin about the situation to a co-worker, and I later found out my manager actually came in during my tirade (cubicles, I didn't see him come in). *sigh*

We had an IT meeting later that briefly hit on current attitudes.

My co-worker said afterwards that he suspect that was directed at me.

YA THINK!?!?!?!?!?!?!

(*heavy heavy sarcasm*)
