It is annoying when parts designed to be replaced have to be included with the purchase. Why not an option to purchase the computer with no drives? The most extreme example was Dell, et al, not allowing a desktop/tower purchase without a FDD, keyboard, and mouse. Go to any ewaste collector and you'll discover something like 100x ratio of [FDD,keyboard,mouse] to (tower+desktop).
My weak understanding of OPAL is that it is some OS-like thing performing encryption/decryption on the drive, itself. If I understand that correctly, what do you use?
Text-per-inch theoretically would be the same in both cases. However, you should actually experience increased text-per-inch, reduced eye strain, and reduced fatigue.
If someone like System76 wants me to purchase one of their computers, they need to offer increased resolution.
Their site is only loading scripts from half a dozen or so domains. It's not bad; maybe they can get that up to at least several dozen like the larger laptop makers, but they are certainly on their way.

Can someone help me figure this out? There seem to be two accounts using the name PopeRatzo. One is the apparent troll parent has responded to, and the other has been a longtime presence on Slashdot and usually makes insightful and interesting comments. I have friended the 2nd account but not the first. Somehow they both have the same account number (965497), but the trolll account has a 2nd number after it (9779246).
What is going on? Am I missing something obvious?
Against an industrialized military, I guarantee you tanks are mostly useless.
Russia tank.. well, recent event surprise exactly no one who has been paying attention to Russia of the last 20 years. There military has largely become a façade. It would be publicly ridiculed, but, you know, nukes and the shaky ego of dictators is a bad combination in and of itself. Not a bear to be poked without careful consideration.
