Yes, that's how it's supposed to work, to keep you from looking for an actual alternative. The other poster nailed it with what's happening in Colombia. It's kind of a bad reflection to see this very old trick still working so well, especially on supposedly well educated people. But then again, the issue is psychological, not political, since it happens the world over.

Oblige Obama to make more promises he has no intention of keeping and otherwise lie some more? Until the democrat-republican party is voted out of office, it just won't matter because nothing can or will change under its rule. And fuck the greens and libertarians, too! Pure bait 'n switch those bastards. If we don't put the system to the test, we'll have no way of knowing whether it works as it should. At this stage of the game, it looks to me like it's working perfectly. Jeeze, even Nader is just spewing the party line, believing crap like the republicans are the opposition. All I see is people lining up like iron filings in a magnetic ( containment) field. Obama's not the only one depending on the prompter. Everybody's standing so nice and neat. Our little internet here still has no effect whatsoever.

We're marching, marching to Shibboleth,

And he [Obama] did publically [sic] come out against going to war in Iraq...*

Again you're ignoring the difference between his words and his actions. (*cough* telecom immunity, health care, transparency, medicinal marijuana, etc...) It was an easy position for him to take from the 'outside'. If he were in the senate, and his vote were needed (gee, I hope my grammar's correct for those sensitive ones out there), he would've been there 'for the team' without a doubt. And he would've had to steal Hillary's line: "OHHH! If only I had known..." His deceptiveness makes him worse than Perry (please, don't assume I'm supporting Perry, or anyone else in the party, like the other guy I'm arguing with. They're all John Wayne Gacy.. premeditated killers.. Nothing accidental about it, drunken, or otherwise). At least with him, you know what you're getting. 'cause either way, you're gonna get it.. You know, if Obama were against the death penalty, he could issue an executive order. He has the power. But he's not, so he won't.

Fuck! This a replay of 2004, 06, 08, 10... You hate me, don't you? I mean, why else would you do this?

Your buddy, Ron Paul is a racist lunatic who believes in states rights, not individual rights. Hell, he would let them bring back the old Jim Crow laws and become little fascist enclaves. He's for property rights, not human rights, and even less womens' rights. And his real concern over the drug laws is the lost revenues due to the wars and prohibition itself. Please, don't try to make him out to be some kind of messiah. His agenda is not what you think it is. And he wouldn't get my vote in a thousand years.

Big business is the only thing that has the resources to create and operate a government. It is in their image. Ron Paul will not be allowed to interfere were he ever to actually try.

You know, George Orwell wrote a little story about bureaucrats who think they can make changes.

From their position it's very easy people like Ron Paul/Dennis Kucinich to make big speeches of 'revolution'. Put him in the hot seat though, and watch him sing a completely different tune. He will toe the line just like all the others. What all of you want will take nothing less than all out war. Power will not be relinquished peacefully. You can put your delusions to rest.
