Yea most major browsers....except Internet Explorer for XP. That is quite a few users there.

I still don't know what a web app is, and I use two iPhones and an iPad daily. I can't even come up with a decent site that explains it. Is it just a link on the home screen to a web page? I never knew so many people used them until these recent articles.

From what I read Google Chrome for Windows XP has the same limitation. Something about using the native OS call for SSL functions. The lack of support for Internet Explorer for Windows XP is a major shortfall for SNI. At my company we can't justify having a site that doesn't work properly in Internet Explorer for XP. I'm sure we aren't unique.

Also my understanding is that some of those browsers, including IE 7/8, don't support SNI in WIndows XP.

That is a good point. I just got caught up in the idea of being able to sync my iPhone in seconds. Not that it is something I even do that often.

Now it would be cool to get Thunderbolt on the iPhone/iPad so we can sync the devices fast.

I thought it was only GPL Version 3 that was banned. My understanding is the third revision added restrictions that conflict with the app store policies.

Then what's the point of this article? If software was never intended for this type of market, why are people surprised that their software is not allowed in this market?

Don't think so. AT&T is marketing HSPA+ as 4G like T-Mobile for now. This year's iPhone will probably be "4G" but not actually LTE. I wouldn't expect an LTE iPhone until the beginning of next year for Verizon, followed by AT&T next summer.

I thought Android 2.2 had this capability by default. Of course with the iPhone you can do this if you jailbreak and install MyWi (or another program). I didn't get the 3G iPad since I always carry my phone, and MyWi is a good alternative for when I want to use my iPad away from WiFi.
