It is annoying when parts designed to be replaced have to be included with the purchase. Why not an option to purchase the computer with no drives? The most extreme example was Dell, et al, not allowing a desktop/tower purchase without a FDD, keyboard, and mouse. Go to any ewaste collector and you'll discover something like 100x ratio of [FDD,keyboard, mouse] to (tower+desktop).

My weak understanding of OPAL is that it is some OS-like thing performing encryption/decryption on the drive, itself. If I understand that correctly, what do you use?

Text-per-inch theoretically would be the same in both cases. However, you should actually experience increased text-per-inch, reduced eye strain, and reduced fatigue.

If someone like System76 wants me to purchase one of their computers, they need to offer increased resolution.

They require now secondary sources and a research paper is primary:

Articles should rely on secondary sources whenever possible. For example, a paper reviewing existing research, a review article, monograph, or textbook is often better than a primary research paper. When relying on primary sources, extreme caution is advised. Wikipedians should never interpret the content of primary sources for themselves (see Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Neutral point of view).

Comment Why don't they first fix the shitty PDF viewer? (Score 1) 69

I can't grab and pull the document like I could when I first opened a PDF with Adobe Acrobat Reader in like 1997. Since 16:9 is the final evolution of display ratios, display the document in either a new window with zero window header or get rid of window header in the tab with the document as the FF window header uses >10% of available vertical screen space which really matters with 8-1/2"x11" documents, which is pretty much all of the PDFs I download. Among the first things I do on a new install is configure FF to default download PDFs so I don't have to deal with their lame college freshman's PDF reader "app". I hope they don't break that configuration option with this update.

Submission + - Georgia governor to reopen some businesses as early as Friday (cnn.com)

gollum123 writes: Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp announced Monday that certain businesses in the state would be able to reopen this week in a "small step forward" out of the social distancing measures meant to mitigate the novel coronavirus pandemic. Kemp, a Republican, said specifically that fitness centers, bowling alleys, body art studios, barbers, hair and nail salons, and massage therapy businesses can reopen as early Friday, April 24. Theaters and restaurants will be allowed to open on Monday, April 27 while bars and night clubs will remain closed for now, Kemp added. The move comes alongside similar announcements from the Republican governors of South Carolina and Tennessee after President Donald Trump unveiled new guidelines last week meant to help states loosen their social distancing restrictions. While the incremental reopenings align with the President's push, public health experts have repeatedly stressed the dangers of relaxing social distancing measures too early.
