Comment Why should Reddit care? (Score 1) 64

If traffic is unaffected and folks keep modding, why should Reddit care? These folks like to pretend their volunteer internet job gives them any power here. The only way Reddit would have to listen is if established mods actually quit and the replacement mods could not handle the task. I suspect that the replacements easily could handle the job and therefore there's nothing special about the existing group of moderators. It will be an interesting adjustment for these folks.

I don't get any emails from parties except for my immediate reps (who I signed up for). I've also never given money to a political campaign as I feel that once you do, you get hounded into eternity for it. Two different charities did that to me after one time donations. I've never donated again to them. Food bank just sends me a monthly newsletter and a thanks every month for theirs.

I figure let the candidates know directly as they might be the most likely to care about such unfortunate news for them.

That requires some of these places to be good places to raise kids. That's not something you can just up and do in a couple years - it already needs to exist. Some places are going to check that box but if you're not already there, I think the money will quickly be lost once the kids are school age.

Disney just owns too much stuff at this point to fail and people aren't going to stop having kids.

Amazon produces some pretty good stuff themselves actually and since it comes with Prime, I figure it'll last.

Hulu has adult Disney owned stuff and HBO is there plus all the networks that do want to be on it.

Netflix has inertia but I think they will become shells of themselves.

Anyone else is in my opinion a nobody since they don't have enough relevant content to survive. Peacock, CBS, Paramount, etc. I think of the remaining folks Discovery might have the best chance of being 5th just because of all the crap they pump out but I figure they get acquired.

Comment Re:Maybe if they improved content? (Score 1) 78

It doesn't help if Netflix cancels everything so it can't grow and end naturally. It's hard to get someone to watch a good show that just ends without any conclusion. Sure, you have that problem with television generally but at least with cable, you could watch tons of networks while Netflix just increasingly has their content.
