Submission + - Windows 11 works fine on a 2006 era Pentium 4 (notebookcheck.net) 4

tlhIngan writes: Windows 11 has odd specs and many recent processors are on the unsupported list. However @Carlos_SM1995 found that a Pentium 4 from 2006 is fully supported by Windows 11. Yes, Windows Update works fully and the processor is fully supported. So maybe if your first gen Ryzen or 7th gen Intel Core can't run Windows 11, it's time to dig out the old Pentium...

I was fine with them dropping support for 32-bit CPUs, but is this saying they actually didn't? That makes the rest of the requirements look like so much more bullshit.

Probably actually a Pentium D, which is just a Pentium 4 - same NetBurst microarchitecture, socket, and all - with 64-bit support. I refer to those colloquially as "Pentium 4".

Nevermind, checked the article, it is a Pentium 4 661 [intel.co.uk], which supports 64-bit instruction set.

Windows 11 is not available in 32-bit builds, so 64-bit support is a must.
