A must have when working in cybersecurity!

    Date: Mar 07 2024

Summary: Kasm Workspace is a really good product that integrate and optimize the workflow by bringing your own personal desktop in the browser on the cloud or to run throwable sessions that are particularly useful when working in cybersecurity or for pentesting environment.

Positive: It can be used as a virtual lab where you can experiment a lot of things without worrying for the security or integrity of the system. When working in cybersecurity it's really great thing to have the possibility to launch a new and fresh desktop session of Kali Linux or Parrot OS, you don't need to install it anymore or run virtual machines, and the fact that those sessions are throwable is very useful for pentesting environment. Also, the fact that all of this work in the browser make it very versatile to be able to work anywhere even if you're not on your own computer, you can retrieve your personal desktop session in the cloud, and you can also use it to bypass network firewall at school or work.

Negative: The lack of customization in the Community server edition and the ability to run a Windows container, even if not easy I think that if they managed to add a Windows 10 container desktop, it will bring Kasm Workspace to a next level with the ability to run Windows app in the cloud on the browser will be very useful for enterprise for home-working and teleworking and even for user that need to work on Windows app but that have macOS or Linux systems.

Exactly what I was looking for.

    Date: Jun 29 2023

Summary: It is a simple solution in terms of features but it has everything I was looking for. Within a few seconds I can have a disposable desktop, test a file and then destroy the session again.

Positive: Setup was very easy. I was looking for a disposable desktop and Kasm was the first I tried. I never explored other options since Kasm was exactly what I was looking for.

Negative: The clipboard can be a bit difficult to work with sometimes. Direct copy-paste would be more convenient. The price increased recently.

    Great for my business

    Date: Jan 10 2023

Summary: Overall, Kasm can be a valuable tool for businesses and organizations looking to increase flexibility, improve productivity, and facilitate collaboration among their employees.

Positive: Ease of use: The platform is intuitive and easy to navigate, with a clean and modern interface. This makes it simple for team members to access and work on their files and projects from any location.

Pretty decent for emulating Windows on your browser

    Date: Jan 10 2023

Summary: It's convenient to be able to access an operating system from any device with a browser. This can be especially useful for individuals who need to use specific software or access specific files that are only available on a particular operating system, but do not have that operating system installed on their current device.

Positive: Accessibility: An emulator allows you to access an operating system from any device with a browser, which can be convenient if you need to use specific software or access specific files that are only available on a particular operating system.

Allows you to use software or access files that are not compatible with your current operating system.

Can be a quick and easy way to access an operating system without having to install it on your device.

Negative: Tends to be slower and more resource-intensive than natively running an operating system. This can make it difficult to use resource-intensive software or perform tasks that require a lot of processing power.

Security: an operating system in a browser could potentially introduce security vulnerabilities.

Limited functionality: may not be able to fully replicate the functionality of an operating system, and may not support certain hardware or software.

Good for testing your websites and more

    Date: Jan 10 2023

Summary: Kasm is a comprehensive browser virtualization solution that offers improved security and a user-friendly interface. It is a good choice for organizations that need to run multiple versions of multiple browsers and manage multiple versions of plugins, but it may require additional resources and effort to set up and configure.

Positive: One of the main benefits of Kasm is improved security. By isolating older, potentially insecure versions of browsers and plugins in virtualized environments, it helps to protect the rest of the system from potential vulnerabilities.

Negative: A few potential drawbacks to consider. Using Kasm may require additional hardware resources and effort to set up and configure the virtualized environments. Additionally, not all features may be available for all browsers, and it may not be suitable for organizations that only use a single browser.

    Great tech, responsive developers

    Date: Dec 27 2022

Summary: 100% recommend for a browser isolation platform. Even for hosting custom applications that need a windowed ui. This also has potential to replace things such as guac or vdi. The great thing is that you can customize to fit your needs.

Positive: The technology was polished, well thought out, and it works extremely well. The security baked in by default is better than anything else default out there.

Negative: Nothing of substance. The only “con” was how complex it can be but it’s complex for a reason. Plus the devs are extremely responsive and the docs are amazing. So it’s not really a con.
