Summary: It's very cost-effective and hands down the most secure browser with the added VDI this is an absolute bargain.
Positive: Kasm is the first true "Workplace in the Cloud”, providing access to applications, desktops and browsers.
I use Kasm for presentations of my work-in-progress. I can share my screen with participants without putting my browser at risk. The Sharing feature is also useful for remote screen sharing during web conferences or meetings without having to join into a web conference application. The broad range of powerful features of Kasm allows me to interact with the Web without exposing my computer/browser to risks such as malware or phishing attacks and data loss during a system crash.Negative: The copy and paste can is only functional through the control panel on the left.

Secure Desktop for Email/Files/Websites Date: Mar 02 2021
Summary: With more people working from home during COVID, not everyone has access to the latest cybersecurity protection which makes it important to take precautions against web threats. Kasm allows me to interact with untrusted email and files without putting my own system at risk.
Positive: Kasm provides a safe way to visit websites, check webmail and open files without putting my computer at risk. As a realtor, I have to open files from clients and colleagues who may not have the latest security protections. By using a desktop in the cloud, I can ensure that my computer is not compromised.
Negative: Additional browser login when opening the desktop.

A great solution for many purposes Date: Sep 30 2020
Summary: Very easy to install, Read the documentation when you set it up. I primarily use it for content filtering for my kids which works great. It is a great solution for an environment where you provide no internet connection to a computer or network and want to provide control over what is accessed on a per user or group basis.
Positive: Fast, light weight, and provides great content filtering along with a very fluid interface for browsing the web. I love the fact that It provides a good, usable linux X11 interface.
Negative: Have yet to find anything remarkable for this category.

KASM Cloud Browser Date: Dec 29 2022
Summary: Positive experience with a clear unique selling proposition (USP). Definitely a clear winner for Cloud Browser.
I am also testing the use case of a Virtual Workstation (self-hosted) using the community edition. So far it's been a positive experience and I am considering to move from a Cloud Browser customer to a Virtual Workstation customer.Positive: (1) A good way to get a clean browser every time consistently from a fixed environment without the hassle of maintaining any infrastructure
(2) Two US locations, one EU location, and one AP location makes it practical if needing measurement from different regionNegative: (1) I wish there is a way to load specific extensions to the browser image every time.

- For every application/cli upgrade, we have to build and update the core-images. ( eg. If we want to upgrade AWS CLI, GCP CLI, Java, Python etc...)
- Performance issue. Sometime its lagging. Still its manageable.
- Less logs to debug the issues. -

Better than a VPN at times Date: Jun 27 2022
Summary: Kasm is a great utility, whether you're trying to bypass your local firewall or browse securely. It runs both lightweight browsers and more demanding applications with the same fluidity provided you have a sound internet connection. Pricing is also attractive and accessible.
Positive: Well designed UI, multiple browsers and smooth performance on a low latency connection makes using Kasm a carefree, near-native experience. The fact that there is a free plan is also great for people looking to try it out.
Negative: I would love to see more demanding applications available for use, because those are what people most often look for due to unavailability of expensive hardware. Better performance on slower networks would also be a big plus.

Docker on steroids Date: Jan 11 2022
Summary: Very good solution with great support and huge potential.
I am really eager to see the next features.Positive: It's really easy to setup. I tested it first on a virtual machine which resulted in some strange errors. After contacting the Kasm team (to be honest: without any hopes to get a helpful response) they really dug into my problem and helped me solve my issue (which was related to the time sync (and different timezones) between the host and guest OS).
It's also very nice to have some pre-built containers but also the option to create your own containers.Negative: It would be perfect if it would support also VMs (with different OS's). This would allow complete independence to do each and every task on the server.

Very Promising Date: Dec 31 2021
Summary: I haven't spent a TON of time with this application, but I do think that it both has potential and is already amazing even in its current state. I would love to see where it goes in the future!
Positive: I love the compatibility on mobile! Personally I have not even used it on desktop, but I never have had to! It just seems to work with nearly no problems at all on my iPhone 11 using Safari.
In addition to the compatibility, I also love the amount of functions. There are so many useful things, including an on-screen keyboard, audio support that goes BOTH WAYS (mic & speaker), and file managing tools.
In terms of pricing, they offer a free community edition, kinda like IntelliJ IDEA. I LOVE this because it allows individuals to use the service and see what it does as well as experience much of the functionality without a large cost.Negative: The ONLY issue I noticed was that microphone support on iOS does not seem to work at all, which is minor in the grand scheme of things.

Excellent implementation with tons of potential Date: Sep 16 2020
Summary: Disclaimer:
I am using the self-hosted Community version of Kasm, not the paid cloud-based version. That said, I worked with the paid version demo, and it appears to operate and perform identically to my self-hosted install.
Use case:
My use case is as a hobbyist. I'm using Kasm for personal use, as well as evaluation for possible recommendation to clients and colleagues.
Setup:
I'm running Kasm on a Ubuntu LTS Server in a Hyper-V VM on a Windows 10 host. I was also able to easily install Kasm on a RackNerd VPS without issue, but the Windows 10 install will likely be my install of choice. I have Hyper-V experience, so setting up the VM was straight forward.
Setting up Kasm itself was so easy--literally 3 lines of commands. A couple of times I failed to set things up the way I specifically wanted, but it was a simple matter of following Kasm's easy uninstall instructions and then reinstalling.
Use and Performance:
Just open Kasm in your browser, and you are greeted with a clean Dashboard from which you can choose what "Kasms" (specific isolated app or desktop instances) to launch. The Kasms launch very quickly, and performance was great. Performance on the paid version is fast and responsive. Performance on a Self-hosted install is directly related to the underlying platform you are running. My self-hosted "cloud" instance on a RackNerd VPS performs well, but it is slower than the instance on my Windows 10 Desktop at home. This because I have more vCPUs and memory allocated to Kasm at home than are available on my VPS.
Conclusion:
I've played around with remote Linux access "in the browser" solutions such as Guacamole and VNC, and RollApp, and I never found the right balance of ease of setup, ease of use, app selection, and affordability. Kasm really nails it on most fronts....except app selection. In my opinion, the success of Kasm hinges on the ability to provide users with a large selection of pre-built images, and to provide developers with solid, easy instruction on how to build and publicly publish custom images. Crack that nut, and this will be a solid 5-star platform!Positive: Kasm lets me quickly and effortlessly "spin up" a solid and secure instance of an isolated app or a full desktop environment INSIDE A WEB BROWSER! How cool is that?!? Performance is excellent, and implementation and setup was quick and easy.
Negative: SSL Setup: I had an initial issue getting an SSL Certificate to provide the proper HTTPS security, but after working with the Kasm Documentation and Google, I was able to solve it fairly quickly.

Lack of diverse Images: This is really not so much as Con as a vision of potential enhancement. The currently available images work very well--very well, but honestly, they are limited. While I absolutely understand that this is still a young project, I'd love to see a large library of isolated app images and more targeted desktop Images. For example, imagine being able to spin up an instance of The GIMP, Audacity, and InkScape added as either isolated app images or all included in a "Media Creation" desktop.
