Description

The MAISY databases for both commercial and residential utility energy consumption were first launched in 1995, encompassing details on 10,000 utility clients across the United States. Since then, these databases have undergone extensive annual updates, culminating in the 2020 MAISY databases, which now feature up-to-date energy consumption and hourly load profiles for over 7 million individual utility customers in the US. Each record within the databases contains comprehensive information regarding the building, equipment, operational details, occupant profiles, and energy usage of the respective utility customers. The development of these hourly load profile databases has been informed by a wide range of data sources, including utility companies, industry associations, governmental data, as well as proprietary surveys conducted by Jackson Associates and in-depth engineering assessments of appliances. Importantly, these databases represent a statistically valid cross-section of both residential and commercial utility customers nationwide, ensuring their reliability and usefulness for energy analysis and planning. Their extensive scope allows for a more informed understanding of energy usage trends across diverse sectors.

Description

PV Designer software is an excellent choice for residential and small commercial energy systems, allowing users to effortlessly create roof outlines, set parameters for set-backs and keep-out zones, and integrate SunEye shading data at precise roof locations. With features that facilitate dragging and dropping modules, sizing strings, checking inverter capacities, and computing the AC energy output, it streamlines the design process significantly. The program is equipped with comprehensive global databases for modules, inverters, and historical weather patterns, making it a versatile tool. Users can experiment with various design options and analyze their AC kW-hr outputs side-by-side, helping to pinpoint the most efficient design. Although PV Designer is particularly suited for systems of around 15 kW, it can accommodate larger designs of up to 100 kW as well. Its user-friendly interface ensures that even those new to solar design can navigate it with ease, while still providing the in-depth analysis typically reserved for more complex engineering software. This combination of accessibility and robust functionality makes PV Designer a standout tool in the solar design landscape.
